History of the Anti-Sexual Violence Movement

When we work to end sexual violence, it is important to ground ourselves in the larger movement. In this 1 1/2 hr webinar, we will discuss the origins of the anti-sexual violence movement in the U.S. up until the present day. The webinar will discuss how far we have come in this movement, mistakes we have made along the way, as well as where we are going. It will also discuss how the anti-sexual violence movement is related to other social justice movements. This webinar is appropriate for anyone who works with sexual violence survivors or has an interest in history.

This is great! Thank you so so much! However, there was no mention of women with disabilities. I am 6th generation Arizona native and feel this is a pattern in our state. I wrote a book called "Arizona Rain". Yes, I am a white woman, but I am also a member of the most overlooked vulnerable group--the group that gets no mention of being the first murderered in the Holocaust. I am struggling to be capable of obtaining advocacy services. Disabled women are up to 12 times as likely to be abused and face very unique challenges and circumstances when it comes to being safe and leaving. Many women of European decent, especially the UK, have higher rates of genetic health conditions like EDS, which is a condition that makes us especially vulnerable to certain men and all abuse in general. It is an incredibly complicated condition that makes us more vulnerable in a slew of ways... a whole list of ways. I took many women, gender, culture, and similar progressive classes in college and have 6 Master of Arts credits in communication and advocacy. But I do not remember any mention of disabilities then either.
