What is the historical veracity of the Kebra Nagast? What is the historical veracity of the Kebra Nagast? In layman's terms, how historically accurate is the Kebra Nagast? Did person A ever live? If you find someone that recounts part of the life of A and another source that barely mentions A in passing, in roughly the same time frame then A is considered to be a fact of history. The same can be said for any battle, say H, I or J. The same can be said about any city such as X, Y or Z. The Kebra Nagast is in fact a partial conformation of the Biblical story about Solomon and the Queen of Sheba because it proves that such legends existed in Africa and not just in Israel. However the Kebra Nagast was written in the 14th century, meaning that Solomon died 2,300 years before this. So if the writings of Nebure Id Ishaq of Axum can not be linked to any earlier sources then it is highly probably that the Bible is more accurate and that the Kebra Nagast or The Glory of the Kings, may have deliberate additions in order to try and make an unwarranted point. With one possibility being that the Ark of The Covenant of Israel had been taken to Ethiopia by Solomon’s son. Now I find the possibility of the Queen having a relationship with the man she admired so much as quite likely. I also believe that the legendary, womanizing, scoundrel Solomon might have had an affair with almost anyone, especially a woman of great learning and great personal power. While her position as Queen would have precluded her simply moving into his harem, even if this is something that she might have wanted. “Duty to the people,” is not something neglected by all rulers! But there is historical evidence that the actual Ark remained in Jerusalem for a long time after Solomon. Though it is possible that Solomon might have had a copy made for her, on the sly, because the people of Israel might not have liked this, and if the so called ark is found in Ethiopia I will bet it is a copy and not the original one. Though if the Ark or an ark is found this would give a basis for why Nebure Id Ishaq claimed that a son of the Queen, fathered by Solomon, might have brought the Ark / ark back home with him. The Kebra Nagast is a religious text and a source of the origin myth of the Ethiopian royal dynasty. Besides that its historical veracity is nil. What is an interesting fact of history that most people don't know? From the 14th century upward the so-called ethiopian history writers with no scientific or archaeological evidences the type of book or story that is written about imaginary characters and events and not based on real people and facts: work of fiction The book is a work of fiction and not intended as a historical account.or evidence

you raised a really interesting point, the aim of this channel is to build a realistic fact based(evidence based) time line for the Ethiopian history, as such we are trying to form a chronological set points in different historical periods using books as a reference. Our efforts may not be accurate in some sorts but we will try and perfect it with time. If you would like to help out our channel please contact us at betehabeshaofficial@gmail.com
