I own my great grandparents farm established in Feb 1912. I wish there were more old and progressive photos taken over time. My wife and I have been here for over 40 years. We have made made a lot of improvements in that time and we regret we didn't take enough photos also. Ok as long as you have it in your head and pass it on to next generations. Liked to hear history of your farm and family. Chris from West Michigan.

You should do a future farm plans video. What are your guys plans for the next 5, 10, or 20 years? Do you want to grow your equipment, land base, milking setup/parlor?

The stories how farms evolve over the years is fascinating to me. The history is educational for younger generations. Also it shows how far you have come. What's really sad for our family is when our barn addition and machine shed were completed in 1982 (Mom took rolls of pictures) all of those pictures were lost in a house fire in 1991. I have many memories though of all the neighbors working together. Now they are all retired and half of them have passed on. Happy birthday to your parents.

Thanks for the super detailed video Kip. Most interesting going back in the farm history. Appreciate you doing this. You explaining the history gives us a better feel for your farming operation. Happy heavenly Birthday to your mom and Happy Birthday to your dad on the 13th of February at 70 years old. You all have done a lot of work getting the farm transferred over to you and brothers. That is really important for future generations. My compliments to all of you for doing that. The growth of the farm buildings and operations is so interesting to hear about. Gives us a good idea of your growth for future generations. Thanks again Kip for doing this. You asked for comment on a part three and going over the deed books. YES that would be most interesting to hear about. So yes on that. Thanks for everything Kip. You all take care and be safe. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.

This is cool. I like to think what I was doing in the different years you mentioned since I’m just 3 years younger than you. My dad turned 74 on the 12th. My wife and I started buying my parents farm about 2 years ago. I’m impressed with everything you guys were able to do. Those buildings and concrete aren’t cheap.

I did not have a farm to pass on. However, I do have a family history. My son gave me a Christmas present in 2021. It was called Storyworth. Every week, he had me answer a question. I emailed him back my answer. I spent a few hours per week answering the questions, complete with pictures. In 2022, it was completed. The end result was a bound book. Each of our children received a book. Family history is important to each family. Now they know, "The rest of the story."

That was very well done. Thank you for sharing your history with us. Here’s another idea. I was wondering about tracing the cows. A Dairy Farm is only as good as the cows that produce the milk and I was wondering if you had linage for the cows. Are you milking Great Great Great granddaughters of some of your dad’s or your grandfather cows ?

I wonder if 2010 is about the time you (I did too) started with digital cameras, and most of your pictures from then on are on a hard drive somewhere. I know I had to go through all of my old computers to extract all of the pictures, and backed them up on various "cloud' storage platforms (Google Drive, MS One Drive, Dropbox, etc...). I got my first digital camera around 2008; my first "smart" phone in 2011ish.

@23:12 6% interest was a low interest rate in 1984. There were a lot of loans over 13 % interest. Not every parent wants to do it the way your Dad did. Some want a selling price at appraisal and an interest rate the same the bank. They want to treat the off farm siblings equal to the on farm siblings. So it could end up that the off farm sibling are drawing from an employer sponsored retirement plan about the time the on farm siblings are trying to figure out how they are going to pay for a farm.

Love knows what has become of the farm and your history this will help the next time when you, your sister, and your brothers decide to retire from the farm. And the next generation takes over when are you going to start artificial insemination of the cows is the bull still threatening your safety on the farm when is that going to occur? And yes, do part 3 of the farm history also would like to hear from your sibling's story as well. Sincerely! R.S.V.

That’s a tough one, you still have time to have a child or marriage unless you decided against it already. If so, I’d see if you had a nephew or other family interested to teach possibly hire and go that route or a really good employee someday could even buy in to take over.
