History of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division

This is the official history of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).
The primary mission of SLED is to provide quality manpower and technical assistance to law enforcement agencies throughout the state and to conduct investigations on behalf of the state as directed by the Governor and Attorney General. As such, SLED serves as the state police in South Carolina.
