I've put 19k km on my 2015 Prado 4.0 L 271 hp so far. Runs like a champ. Drove it through the Saudi desert all the way from Qatar to Jordan and back. 8 hours driving against the wind in a blistering sandstorm. not even a hiccup. My family and arrived safely. It really means a lot to know that you can depend on your car to get you there and back...

'I think 80 series Land cruisers are the best looking and SUV character defining designs ever. In all the SUV universe.

Thank you for telling the story of the cruiser Andrew, its a true icon. PS: the first prototype was build for a US army commission to aid in the Korean war effort. Toyota lost the bid, Mitsubishi won, with a licensed version of the Willis. Toyota persevereer with their prototype, climbed up to a base station in Fuji, got their first order from the fire brigade of Japan, and the rest is history, that you so kindly told. Thank you! Ioannis

For me, if I was buying a Land Cruiser, I'd probably go for a petrol straight six, a normally aspirated whether it's a four or six cylinder version diesel or a late 100 series turbo diesel with the 1HD-FTE.

1:50 Wrong information here I think. 'FJ' or 'BJ' has nothing to do with luxury or utilitarian versions, it has to do with the engine and the model. The 'BJ40' would have the B-engine (3000 cc diesel), 'J' stands for 'Land Cruiser' and '40' is the name of the model (in this case a short wheelbase). The FJ45 would have the F-engine (4000 cc petrol), 'J' stands for 'Land Cruiser' and 45 is the name of the model (in this case a long wheelbase). Same for FJ5*, FJ6*, BJ6*, HJ6*, HZJ7*, KZJ7*, LJ7*, ... Cheers

Land Cruiser wrong. Fj was a petrol and Hj is diesel. Correct with the model numbers tho

Jacob Bandman , also incorrect. The other comment was correct as far as it went. The HJ is a landcruiser with an H series Diesel engine the BJ had a B series Diesel and the FJ had an F series engine.

Hi, just a slight correction, the 100 series was introduced in 1998 not 2001. Well in Australia we got it in 1998, Sth Africa might have got it later.

There r about 100 land cruisers of 70 and 80 series in Bangladesh Navy. Mostly the 1984 fj70s. But I love the 80 series station wagon more. Ha Ha!

@ihaveairlockers I wish you wouldn't gloat so much.... We don't even have the LC Trooper! But we did have the 1HD-FTE in the 100, in the IFS version, VX only. We are still driving the 76-wagon with the 1HZ... it's a bit of a dog. And it's not poor fuel quality that prevents us having the V8 diesel, because we get in in the 200, but also VX version only. Best wishes from SAfrica.

Really sad how the US has gotten the shaft on the LC the last few generations. not sure, but I believe we never actually got the 43 (my fav 40). We never got the 70-series (IMO the best 4wd truck around, I miss mine, it stayed in Australia sadly), we didn't get the 105 (Turbo-diesel/Manual ) in fact we've never gotten Diesel engines or manual tranny's since the 62-Series showed up. No part-time T-cases either since the 80. and now no SFA's anywhere but the 70-ser... Which we don't get :(

BUYER BEWARE ! Toyota Frames RUST through ! I have a 2007 Tacoma and the frame is a rusty piece of shit. Toyota refuses to do anything to make it right. Look up Rusty Frames Tacoma ! You find thousands of Tacoma owners with the same problem. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER TOYOTA AGAIN ! If you have frame rot on your Tacoma post every place possible and hit Toyota where it hurts !
