Having bought the copy right to uhqr as well as the classic records brand, paying his employees a fair wage, and hand making these albums, I’m surprised he is able to make any money. The cost of maintaining the pressing equipment must be fairly costly. I commend the company for offering these incredible quality pressings for such a reasonable price. Don’t forget that he has to pay the artists their royalties. Can’t imagine much is left for him. In a free trade market, vote with your dollars. Enjoy the music.
@ozon8r Жыл бұрын
@thesixthbeatle that decision is yours and I am not in a position nor is anyone to pass judgement on your decision, the beauty of free will and free markets. And remember that the artist gave them the rights to remaster and reproduce this material for a variety of very justifiable reasons. And props to Chad for being chosen by Steely Dan and other very respectable artists that produce amazing music. A win win for the artists and fans. All the best.

Hi Chad. I am a customer of your company, I have purchased only one reel of Rebecca Pidgeon to reel. It is and has been a fantastic sound experience. But I was frustrated that I couldn't buy the reel to reel edition of Norah Jones' "Come away with me." The people at Acoustic Sounds responded very kindly to me that the license for that album had ended and therefore it could no longer be released in reel 15 ips. Is it possible that your company can republish it or print it again in reel to reel? The prices on eBay or other websites are ridiculous and are unattainable for me or anyone with a normal income around the world. Can your company make an effort and make some new reel to reel edits of Norah Jones' album "Come away with me"? Thank you very much, you have a great and fantastic company.

Chad, every time you do a video you cost me more money! Here I was all content that I had all of the UHQRs, and then you pull couple out of left field that I have never seen before mentioned, anywhere. On a related note, is there any truth to the rumour that there was once a very exclusive, executive “Christmas gift” run of the Beatles MFSL box set made with the UHQR discs?

Not that I know of. If anybody knows about any UHQRs that I didn't mention, please let us know.

@@acousticsoundsks I did some more digging to find the posts on this. Apparently Perry Cox (Beatles Historian) sold a Beatles 13 LP MFSL Set made entirely of UHQRs back in 2013. I believe it went up to $8,000 with no sale. Rumors were that it was sold for upwards of $12,000. The UHQR set was pressed for MOFI executives, and just a handful of them were made. Never saw a mention of any others since then (probably sold in garage sales...lol)

I had two early pressings of Alan Parsons--I Robot on UHQR. I also have 24/192 vinyl rip of Dark Side. The I Robot uhqr is EQ'd smiley face. It sounds WAY different from other MFSL (CD, regular LP, SACD), as wel las Classic Records DVD-A, remasters, etc. Not sure which is best. For Dark Side, I'd say the MFSL Gold CD sound better as does a 1973 original German pressing LP. Bottom line: MFSL is all over the map ... it's the mastering engr. that makes more difference than pressing.

Are there any new UHQR's in the pipeline?

Your vinyl is still nowhere near MOFI's?JVC's Super vinyl. I did an A/B comparison with a standard MOFI from the Beatles box set and your Jimi Hendrix, Are You Experienced and the noise being transmitted was way louder on the Jimi title. Everything else is first rate. If you guys could come up with your own Super Vinyl, that would set it over the top.

The main differences are the "One-Step" process, the clarity vinyl, the uhqr specifications and the better presentation.. When it comes to the sound, I don't really know. But one thing I can tell you is that my Axis: Bold As Love UHQR sounds 1000 times better than my regular QRP pressing of the same record.
@derosa19893 жыл бұрын
@@alejoaviles Incorrect, neither are One Steps. Not sure where you got your information. The main difference between the Mofi and the UHQR is they come from different source tapes. 1) The Analogue Productions is being made from the Bernie Grundman mastering from the original 3 track Columbia master tape, which was cut off the 3 track tape deck, mixing it live to stereo in his studio in 1995, and released by Classic Records. that metalwork is being reused for the UHQR version. 2) The recent Mofi 2x45 was cut from a tape that was remixed in 1997 by Mark Wilder. He got the Safety 3 track master, and remixed a new 2 track stereo version, creating a new master tape. That remix tape is what Krieg Wunderlich, at mofi remastered to make their Kind of Blue. 3) the vinyl formula for the UHQR should be quieter than the standard Mofi KOB, unless you happen to get one of the "super vinyl" versions they pressed.
@alejoaviles3 жыл бұрын
@@derosa1989 That is really informative thanks. I remember Michael Fremer saying UHQRs are a "One Step" process at some point, and if I am correct one of the AP UHQR videos explains the process and there is no mention of making a father or a mother. Now I am really curious what is used to press these UHQR records. For the Miles Davis mastering I did not know they were different. I guess came to that conclusion because they were both mastered in the 90s, should have looked more into it. I did make the point that there is a difference with the Clarity vinyl though, no need to correct me on that one haha.
@derosa19893 жыл бұрын
that article is 8 years old. the information changed since then, turned out to be false speculation. The KOB, and the recent Jethro Tull, UHQR are from conventional stampers made for Classic Records, just being repressed on better vinyl. Chad recently explained the UHQR source for KOB in another recent video on this channel.
@alejoaviles3 жыл бұрын
@@derosa1989 my comment with a link to Michael Fremer's article in which he explains these records are a one step process keeps getting removed. But it is out there on the internet with a quick google search. I'm pretty sure Fremer has a direct line to Chad, and he knows more than you. Maybe things have changed since then, but I can't find any indication these records go through all 5 steps before getting pressed.

Funny, back in the 60's n 70's a record was simply a way to get music, the key word, "music". When Mo-Fi came out thought they were pretty cool, now not so sure. Even with these UHQR's your still limited to the source material. I just listened to a comparison of the UHQR of Aqualung to the Steve Wilson re-mix (which is available and affordable) and the Wilson sound's way better, cause the original master tapes suck. In the end when you sit back and close your eye's and listen to the "music" these differences disappear, tho I too get caught up in the "better" copy thing.

To many lies as usual. One of them: he tells us that they use the best formulation for vinyl, which is that? Secret! 😂 They don't use MoFi SuperVinyl proprietary compound developed by NEOTECH, the best formulation for vinyl. As always behind MoFi and trying to complement with marketing. I'll bet that old Miles Davis cut by B. G. will sound worse than the MoFi cut.
