i personally love the little conversations you overhear between the faction leader and the lieutenants. It shows you that not even the local leadership of either side, the one's claiming to be fighting for their country's freedom, are far from innocent and are more to blame than the outsiders they have bought in

Very small correction, horses and other livestock animals (camels, cattle, donkeys etc) can live and have been at the center of the economy of the Horn of Africa (Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea) historically, and in many parts to this day. Elevation in the horn does not matter, seeing as Somalia is a coastal country with only one small mountainous region in the north, and yet was once the biggest livestock producer in Africa, known for our camels and horses.

being brutally honest, I feel like its such a great disservice that most of these are so short. Unless the interviewee had a tight schedule to work around or something, it always feels like there's much more they'd like to or can talk about.

I agree, which is why we have the podcast version coming up today. Check this feed: soundcloud.com/historyrespawned I used to post the entire interview on KZbin, but I discovered that the vast majority of viewers only "watched" 10 minutes. It seemed like a waste to do all the audio editing AND video editing for a 45 minute KZbin episode if no one was watching. The podcast version of this discussion is pushing 50 minutes.

Ludonarratively it's an immensely interesting game, not least in how quickly and deeply a player can move from "I'm just here for the Jackal" to "I'm only going to wound this guy, so he draws others into the open." All the gameplay frustrations many people (understandably) criticize, from malaria to instantly respawning outposts, ultimately add to that. However, I don't know how much FC2 has to teach--or, in any manner, say--about African conflicts specifically. The Jackal is quite an astonishing character, and through him it seems mostly the West that is taken apart.

Far Cry 2 is a good companion game to the original S.T.A.L.K.R trilogy.
