I like reading the comments under Simon's videos on his various channels because the lore we've created surrounding Simon is hilarious. According to the comments, he 1. Keeps at least 2 people hostage in his basement aka Blazement, Danny and Sam, possibly 3 if we include Peter as a person but apparently Peter is just a houseplant that Simon likes to yell at for confirmation of his opinions, like a crazy person. 2. He possibly has clones of himself to help produce such an insane volume of content. 3. Has phobias of Greyhound Bus, the past (it was the worst) and any system that isn't capitalism. 4. Is deeply skeptical of the paranormal, yet has clearly done a deal with Satan to be able to produce quality content with the rapidity of a man possessed. 5. Lives in Prague, in theory with his wife and kids, but in practice in a tastefully decorated office where he can talk aloud to nobody for hours in peace, and he subsists on a diet of Magic Spoon, coffee, and cocaine (allegedly).

The General Grant probably deserves a place on this list just because of the bizarre circumstances of its loss. In 1866, laden with gold, it was caught in a storm and swept into a cave in Auckland Island near New Zealand. It slammed up and down inside the cave until the mast drove a hole into the hull and it sank inside the cave. Only 15 of the 65 aboard survived and made their way to a nearby island where they were rescued after 9 months.

As a Portuguese man I just want to make a small correction: we don't use "La" as a way to say "of", hence the correct name is "Flor do mar" and not "flor de la mar". That is a Spanish pronunciation of the name. As for the other ship, it's also incorrect. It's writen "As cinco chagas" or "the five soars" not wounds. It's pronounced (as closely as possible) ash cincu shágash. Love your content. More please!
@AshurbanipalSonofAshurhaddon Жыл бұрын
The name of of the ship in XVI century Portuguese was "Frol de la Mar" (Flor do Mar in modern Portuguese). Languages evolve, don't stay the same forever, in XVI century the Portuguese Language was still graphed in very similar way to other Iberian Languages, and all those languages were still very close to Common Latin.

The first two at least, since the wreckages haven’t been found, makes me really believe that the crews of these ships-either crew all or in part-decided to take the treasures, demolish, hide, or change the appearance of the ships and then sold them or gave them away and then disappeared themselves. Rich as fuck. Obviously I’m just thinking this. I have beyond zero evidence to back up anything I’m saying. Negative evidence towards that opinion tbh. But whatever lol.

Disappointed Simon didn't cover the sinking of El Cazador in 1784. If El Cazador hadn't sunk, Spain wouldn't have ceded the Louisiana Territory back to France, who wouldn't have flipped it in a sale to Thomas Jefferson, which could have seriously hindered the realization of manifest destiny. If El Cazador had completed its voyage, the United States today might not be a country that stretches from sea to shining sea

There are of course many other lost treasure ships. I'm in South Africa, and a well known one here is of the Grosvenor. It was a British galleon returning to Britain from India, in the 1700's, and ran aground at the southeast coast.
@salvadorpalma81732 жыл бұрын
Portuguese here. The NAU wasn't called "las Cinque chagas" 2 of those words don't even exist in Portuguese. It was called "Cinco Chagas". We also lost Bom Jesus, with a couple million in gold, but that was found recently. Good Times, when we had gold to sink. Now we sink while trying to stay afloat with empty pockets. THE PAST WAS THE BEST in this case.
