How would the world be different today if Germany didn't invade the Soviet Union?
@xandermillstorres25737 ай бұрын
Yes and maybe the tides of war because the Soviet ain't planning to attack because they are neutral and a non pact aggression with germany

Germany probably still would have lost. I think the two would have ended up fighting anyways. Germany was always going to invade the Soviet Union based on Nazi ideology.

Napoléon not only spread the metric system, he tasked people to invent it.
@neverforged7 ай бұрын
Invented as a revolutionary act, because of the dependence on kings for things like the yard (distance from nose to thumb when arm extended) or at least that original basis, they wanted to de-royal weights and measures.

The hundreds of Local measuring systems that were replaced by the Metric System (every tiny German state had it's own weights and measures and the Spanish had two different measurements for the mile) greatly simplified trade across the Continent.
@Shantari6 ай бұрын
Sweden actually started using the metric system long after Napoleon died. Before that we tried we tried to "resolve" the confusion between Swedish and English inches by introducing yet another inch that was 1/10 of a Swedish foot rather than 1/12, so it was definitely not straight forward.

4:23 from what TFE told me, the benefit of imperial is that it works in twelves, which can easely be divided in 2,3,4 and 6s. as for the metric, yeah napi conquered everything and then forced standardisation of messurements in all conquered territories.

Fun fact! The flushable toilet was invented in 1596, by Queen Elizabeth I's godson Sir John Harington. The 2 that were made were installed in John Harington's home, and Queen Elizabeth's Chambers. The next flushable toilet didn't come along until 1775.

10:25 Hi Terry, I wanted to correct a misunderstanding, that meme is talking about the Qin dynasty, not the Qing. (It's confusing) Qin was the first Chinese empire, while Qing was the last. The name China comes from Qin, not from Qing. Qin unified China after 500 years of fighting and the military tactics and battles were some of the most nuts and horrifying. This doesn't get talked about enough, this was during the time when macadeon empire and Roman empires started, yet the strategies and battles were on par. Even though the dynasty didn't last long, around a couple decades, replaced by the Han dynasty. But during the warring states period, it was an astounding machine of warfare.

There's proof of the various forms of measurements used in Europe is the construction of various castles. The equipment to the foreman would have their own system and the people who worked for them would base it off of that. There's a documentary on it, on here, of a team building a castle using the same techniques from the time period.

Mr. Terry I was wondering what is your opinion as to when people cover the Vietnam war they never mention how America only lost politically and not militarily? People say we got our butts kicked but if you look at the military stats between North Vietnam and America it says the opposite. We kicked thier butts to my understanding. I want to learn more on the war because my dad was in it in 67-68 and was in Tet of 68. But I was wondering what your view is on the matter?

Imperial has the "Rule of Cool" you sounds lame when you say Ki-LOMMM-eaterz or (Special) K, the only decent method is the US Military Klicks. Add to that Miles are what Kilometers want to be when they grow up. "I can't believe it! Your going 120 Ki-LOMMM-Eaterz on the Autobahn?" (What's that? Oh just only about 75 Miles an Hour-Yawn, in Texas you would be passed as if you are going in REVERSE)
