I lived in Boston one summer and I was amazed at the Paul Revere house, sitting right in the middle of the city. Kind of surreal. But just another charming aspect of the city.

I actually visited this home more than 60 years ago when I was aa kid. Our school took us there, and unlike you we were able to go inside. The ceilings I remember were very low, just like my cousin's house that was built in the 1700's. They say people back then weren't all that tall. Also, the bedroom was small too. Thanks for the vid.

Yes, its very low inside, and is typically of early Colonial houses. It wasn't just a personal height issue as much as heating the space in the winter. Thanks for watching.

This house is a work of art. I knew the colonists were making glass to ship back to England. Today I learned it was different colors because they hadn't perfected the process. Thanks for sharing.

You’re all over the place Brett! We like to think modern methods are better, and in some cases are, but this house is almost 350 years old! Built in 1680! What a world!

Haha, learning from the past. Still great lessons here. Thanks for watching.

Great video, Brent! Roger Moss once told me that the first record of double hung sash windows in the New World was in 1701. Where I work west of Philadelphia, casement windows continued to dominate in new buildings until around 1725. A restoration carpenter here has found instances where vestiges of the casements survived in the walls after being replaced with double hung sash windows in the eighteenth century.

Can’t ignore its big, brick buddy. At least they didn’t tear down the Revere house in the name of urban renewal.

I like the beading on the edge of the planks. Nice to see home again as I lived in Somerville, but liked to go to 5 North and Mike's Pastry when I could.
