Britain stopped the slavery trade, literally, at a huge cost of the lives of British sailors & ships and then paid a vast sum to buy the freedom of every slave in the empire as it was then. Britain has nothing to apologise for, or indeed ever pay for, because we almost bankrupted the country and didn't finish paying back that debt until 2015!

It was Britain who used ships to stop the slavery trade, forced them to stop, boarded ships where necessary, and then almost bankrupted the country in 1833, by buying the freedom of all slaves throughout the entire empire. This debt was so huge (40% of its national budget) for the Slavery Abolition Act that it wasn't paid off until 2014! There are lots of videos here on KZbin on Thomas Sowell's work on the abolition of slavery. This is what happens when a false narrative is allowed to be taught and repeated until the point where no one knows the truth anymore and won't admit its the truth when they hear it. No more apologies, certainly not from Britain, especially since modern day taxpayers, till 2014, were still paying for the past. Enough now. Really enough. If our Government, or the King agree to this, then there has to be a discussion indeed to educate everyone on why we have nothing to be ashamed of and if the King doesn't defend the Country against false narratives then maybe we don't need a monarchy either and I say that as a lifelong Royalist.

I did charity work in Africa. I made a study of slavery. And Africans worked actively with the Europeans on that matter,, selling even children and neighbours to the slave traders. On my question to African Americans "Would you like to return?" All of them said:"Never". Long ago, some 25 yrs ago, I read a book written by an African Anerican , how thankful he is that his forefathers were slaves. He visited the country of his forbears and saw corpses drifting in a river. Can anyone remember the title and the author?🎉

Queen Alexandra was the queen consort, so was Queen Mary, and Queen Elizabeth (the queen mother). Their title however was queen. The appendix "consort" is just to separate a Queen Regnant, like Queen Elizabeth II from the spouse of a King. I'm fairly shocked that this is still an issue. The "Diana fan club" seems to be stuck in the past. Its a tragedy that she died in 1997, because if she had lived on, she would probably have married Dodi, and become Mrs al-Fayed. At the same time she would have lost her title as princess, and it would have been much easier for everybody to continue with their lives. Including Charles and Camilla who could have married without it being a huge problem. Diana deserves better than her notorious fans continuing digging trenches on her behalf.

I wish people would remember that Charles and Diana was basically an “arranged marriage”. He was prevented from marrying the woman he wanted to marry, Camilla. Anyone who has ever been in love, fell out of love, married and/or divorced should understand King Charles finally being married to the woman he has always loved. Diana was a beautiful human being, gave herself up to the Royal Family and gave it her best shot. She gave the Monarchy a wonderful Heir and a questionable, disturbed SPARE. Life is a “crap shoot”... you never know what you’re going to get. There is a 50/50 chance to all life choices and events... happy marriage/disappointing divorce, healthy, happy child/disgruntled child, brilliant Working Royals/Shameful selfish free loaders, etc. The greatest freedom we ALL should be granted is the choice to LOVE who we choose. Charles chooses Camilla. It shouldn’t take anything away from Diana’s memory. She will always be “The People’s Princess”! She will never be replaced, but there is room for upcoming Royals to follow her example of service to others. Camilla is married to the King. Camilla is the Queen. Let go of the past. Embrace the future. Or end up like Harry.

Well I loved Diana and I am well into my seventies, however no one is perfect and she made mistakes like all of us have and do. I live in Alaska where reparations are given to Native Alaskans because of WW2. That was because they sent them to the Aleutian Islands in the Alaska panhandle. The move was made to protect them from the war moreso to get them out of the way. However, they left them there and stopped sending food and medical supplies and they were left to manage on their own. It was horrible and Alaska is still giving them benefits to this day BECAUSE it was 1939-1945. I still have parents and grandparents alive who actually lived through that. But they're not giving them cash as a hand outs. They're giving it to them in the form of Native Hospitals, free medical, food, shelters, jobs and housing. However, I do not agree that reparations should be made to people who had no part in the Atlantic Slave Trade from approximately 1526 to 1863 and their parents had no part in the slave trade and their grandparents had no part in the slave trade. Why is our government so quick to hand out money where it doesn't belong when we are in a recession, our economy is tanking and seniors are living on $600 a month! Someone may hate me for this but ya know what, I don't give a tiny rats ass because the truth is the truth UGH!
