This show is like the master of getting you to watch it. They had me for almost 2 seasons but if I heard that narrator say "A rusted Mountain Dew can?....does this mean someone once drank a Mountain Dew here?"😂I mean everytime they found something he would chime in "rope?...did someone once use rope here?"🤣

That's definitely a knights Templars pick axe head! You can tell by the debris collected on it, that's it's from the right century too! One of the Templars must have dropped it after digging the pit to bury their fortune in.
@johnwoa4 жыл бұрын
@Tony Mcnamara Don't let on that the pick axe head is from "... the right century too" (i.e. the Knights Templar) because the Canadian government will consider it archaeological and make them turn it in.

I’m am actually pretty excited about this season ! It looks like the Lagina’s are finally going after the features that have always interested me the most, mainly, the swamp. It’s so obviously manmade & symbolic, I can’t figure out why it’s taken so long to look into. Most of the most exciting happenings on Oak Island come to us via Gary Drayton’s metal detector. I’m a believer in the whole Templar to Francis Bacon theorieswhich means that very erudite, educated & intelligent men created this puzzle. Thus, hacking away at it like a brute is the most obvious path to failure. Brains ALWAYS beats brawn. And, the island is the product of great brains, so it must be worked at in a refined, well thought out manner. I’ve always wanted to see them go over every inch of the island with a geologist, and archaeologists, and a Gary Drayton. The things left in the soil , The features in the rock, shore, and, landscape, and exactly what those features suggest from their appearance , will expose the past, and maybe the future if they were to stop looking at this like a TV show, and look at it like a cipher or puzzle which they are being led towards in this season. Finally !

I'm here just to look at the comments section. Was a viewer/ believer for seven years, past season was my last. The show has changed over the years, remember when they talked about an actual budget for the search? Now they don't. Every discovery is "a huge discovery" and given the oldest date possible to continue to fuel theories for the show. Now the show goes on and on. The comments have also changed over the years from mostly positive/curious to alot of complaints (including me).
@johnwoa4 жыл бұрын
@1 7 Also, note that the vast majority of the dates given for the "finds/discoveries" are always 17th-century forward--- even the Chinese Cash coin that was recently found. That is because the treasure hunting licenses that the Fellowship of the Dig have contains a clause stating that anything found predating 1600 A.D. would be considered archaeological and must be turned over to the Canadian government.
@user-by6ct6br4s4 жыл бұрын
@@johnwoa Thanks for the information about the treasure hunting license, had no idea about it. Seems like different motives and interests have affected the show. Now it's all about producing episodes for longer seasons (and money). Makes me glad I stopped watching.

@@user-by6ct6br4s More info: If you are bummed out on this sensation-oriented Reality show, you might be interested in listening to the KZbin (podcasts) with Vanessa Lucido, the CEO of ROC Equipment. She is in charge of the drilling/caisson operations at Oak Island. Her interviews are very interesting and informative! ALSO, I don't know why, but that copper Spanish Maravedi 8 "cob" coin that was found in the swamp had to be turned over to the government despite it having the date of 1652 (i.e. 17th-century). I don't know why they couldn't keep that coin.

Ancient pickaxe my eye. With all the digging that has gone on there probably is a buried D8 down there somewhere. Actually it is similar to a Cornish miners pick. One tang is deliberately short for use in confined spaces.

Not exactly.... Oak Island is adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean but is nestled up in "almost" the corner of Mahone Bay along with over 360 other islands, Oak Island being so close to the mainland that it is literally a stones-throw away across the water. If curious, check out NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) Nautical Chart CHS4381 for a regional overview.
