There was actually a saw mill on the island so there is likely to be plenty of cut timber buried and lying around. All the nonsense about Roman crossbow bolts, etc have been found to be logging tools by 'real' experts.

When that episode of when they drilled through bedrock finding a large cavern under and inside the bedrock,,,,, that cavern was carved out/made long time ago. They brought in some divers to look. Those guys weren't honest. Also that cavern wasn't flooded until drilling occured. There were two locations of treasure. The biggest and most important was the cavern. Tommy Becker's comment

Completely with you on that one! There is now a thought of there once being a second slipway on the southwestern area of the island because about a week ago Gary discovered evidence of construction activity when he found a huge spike from the same time period of when the smiths cove slipway was constructed. Another item that backs up this thought is a 1700s decking nail that was used to anchor down the side wooden panels that make up the hull of the vessel and to hold down the planks that make up the decks on the ship.

@ The Dude - The REAL treasure is how much $$$$ the History Channel is making through companies paying for advertising on this TV show. It's always about the $$$$. And I don't mean Treasure either. Advertising Dollars. I wonder how much $$$$ Rick, Marty and the gang make an episode? You KNOW they're getting paid for each episode! Serious question, no insult intended....why does anyone watch this series? I watched two episodes around the time it first aired (no idea when that was), and then a couple more a year or two later to see if anything had changed. Finally (I am slow) realized nothing is ever going to be found. No matter how dramatic the ads try to be (laughable), everyone knows that NOTHING is ever going to be found in the cave, the well, the tunnel, the river, under the tree, in the cemetary... whatever. Thus....why does anyone watch this show more than 2-3x, tops.

Another big day on Oak Island? Those timbers were cut from real trees! Sent a sample to the lab to verify the age! We're getting Closer and closer to the treasure but we need to find that flood tunnel first. There could booby traps all over this place. Got to watch where we drill. There is no doubt there will be plenty of timber scattered around. There was a sawmill on the island with plenty of timber being shipped in to be cut. The rubbish about Roman crossbow bolts being found have been identified as logging tools by 'real' experts.
