Histotripsy: Ultrasound cancer treatment approved by the FDA

Histotripsy is a non-invasive cancer treatment that uses ultrasound to break up tumors in the body. It uses controlled sound waves to create micro-bubbles to destroy the targeted diseased tissue, eliminating the use of radiation, chemotherapy and surgical incisions. After successful clinical trials in Europe and the United States, where HistoSonics Edison Platform was used to treat patients with metastatic liver tumors, the Food and Drug Administration has approved the use of histotripsy in hospitals worldwide. With the FDA approval, Histosonics can now sell the Edison Platform to hospitals, giving liver cancer patients a non-invasive treatment option.

Ultrasound can effect other cells too though....even when targeting cancer cells...that can have an adverse effect on nearby cells..just like mri can cause tumors and yes they can..hypersonic frequency with programmable nano tech is the only true solution but after 20 yrs of research and how much that cost would u be willing to look at what i have ....i work with bone regeneration degenerative hearts spinal and more invloving such methods as well as cancer specifically as each type differs...u meed pitch frequencies schematics on how to grow these amd so on amd it is doable..im not a research facility but an architect in nano sciences and medicine

It's not. It's destroys tissue so can only be used in very specific cases.

Look up the Rife Machine. Years ago Mr. Rife was curing cancers in humans using sound frequencies. He was sued by the American Medical Association and his documents were ransacked and his lab was burnt. Same as Nikola Tesla.

Could this be used one day to clear arteries and scar tissue in vessels? Gallstones? Duct blockage of all types? Looking big picture, there are lots of anomalous tissues that cause health issues, like calcifications.

This 70 y.o. remembers having plantar warts as a teenager. My doctor rubbed some sort of electronic instrument over my warts, 2-3 x/week for maybe a month. Slowly, my warts disappeared and left no scars.

That's standard treatment for HPV causing the plantar growth. As long as the germinative layer of the epidermis is cauterized, it does not recur. It is pretty basic, really.

This doesn't have FDA approval. It had approval for a "de novo review", which it has not completed.

I have a close friend with well-formed liver cancer believed to have metastasized from bile duct adenoma. She has been undergoing chemo in an attempt to shrink the tumor sufficiently to permit surgical removal of liver (tissue). Is there any way that she could receive histosonics treatment soon? Seems similar in concept to radiation, but radiation can actually CAUSE cancer by damaging neighboring cells. It would be awesome if this ultrasound technique was well enough controlled to avoid damaging nearby cells. Congratulations to all the folks working on this!

Hope the new turbo cancer can be treated without the sideeffects of cancer treatment. Even if a patient feel good right after treatment life treathening sideeffects often comes within hours or even a day or two. So I really hope humane cancer treatment soon is available as cancer has become more dangerous than seen before treatment was available at all.

This is really a useful technology. It prevents the seeding of new tumors during surgery. Quick recovery time will translate to higher cancer survival rates. I hope they can list Histosonics in the stock market so they scale this up so it can be widely used by everyone in the world (and not just by a few wealthy people). Ticker could be HSNC.
