Farcry Blood Dragon has a similar but all together different idea for its tutorial. You are in a race with a rival character to succeed in an objective, and as a screw you, he activates your characters suit tutorial, so the entire tutorial features the player character complaining about it.

One thing I always adored about Bowser is that practically every aspect of his gameplay is to show you how powerful he truly is. His HP and attack power far exceed what the bros are capable of, his obstacles and mini games just show off how lucky, Mario and Luigi actually are when they beat him, and his battle theme my god his battle just shows you that he is a KING for a reason and it's time to remind everyone to bow before him.

SPEED ON BOWSER IS NOT A LOST CAUSE. I play this game by trying to get a balanced build on all characters, and if you can get good boosts on Bowser's speed then later on he can actually outspeed *A LOT OF ENEMIES HE FACES, INCLUDING MULTIPLE BOSSES*. Honestly my opinion is that Emile's level-up strategy of just prioritizing the strengths of the characters is a not-efficient way to play.

On the topic of of Fawful being the main villain, I want to give special mention to his dialogue before your final battle with him in Superstar Saga. Without directly quoting it, I love how it's basically Fawful realizing he's been doing most of the dirty work for Cackletta and was likely planning to overthrow her had the Mario Bros not defeated him then and there.

Something interesting the remake adds as well is the ability to switch the unused screen to a minimap. And once you talk to the toad that teaches you about bean spots, an icon will show up in the corner of an area in the map that tells you if you've gotten all of them there

One of the problems with Bowser in the remake is that he won't say "Showtime!" when you start combat with an attack. He just laughs instead. So you have to just walk into an enemy like a moron if you want to hear it. As weird as it sounds, that really is a big problem.

Here's one of my own emabarassing childhood stories: when i was a kid, I kept reading Cavi Cape as Capi Cave. Yeah, it doesnt really have the reference to cavities the original does, but it DOES sound decently good as a name. Plus, part of the area does take place in a cave, which means that I never really questioned as a kid.

I really like the moment where Starlow tries to convince Bowser to go to Peach's castle, but ends up relenting and letting him go to his own instead. For most of this game, she's kind of a pushy know-it-all who gets her way, but here she recognizes that Bowser has people he wants to protect, and she puts her own interests aside and agrees to help him with his. Small character moments like that really go a long way.

Since Chugga brought up some positive stuff about the 3DS version, I will say one change I really like is they gave all the gear bonus effects (specifically Wears & Shells) which really changes up your playstyles. In the original, there's only like 3 gear pieces I can think of with bonus effects & they're all obtainable by the endgame, so the majority of the game, you just choose gear based on stats

I loved playing as Bowser when I first got this game, being able to smash and bash baddies as the koopa king himself is awesome! I love the creativeness of his gear and special attacks as well, no spoilers of course to those who haven't played but, Bowser is extremely customizable for how you want to play him!

One aspect of the remake of this game that I feel is a positive is that they made the background of certain areas more detailed and immersive. For example, Cavi Cape has a sunset/twilight kind of ambience with wind blowing and leaves rustling., which strengthens the fall theme it has. Awesome video Chugga!

10:30 I share the sentiment. The Wind is Blowing at Cavi Cape is one of my favourite tracks in the game for sure. It has a relaxing tune, but the subtly somber melancholy really does for me. 12:46 Yesss! I've definitely spent many hours listening to it as well. 16:16 Showtime really is the most wonderful voice clip. I love how the mod for Smash Bros. that gives Bowser his canon voice also makes him say this line at the start of a fight. 20:35 Yeah, Goombrats are those really ugly Goombas. I don't know what it is about them, but something just fills me with irrational hatred towards them. I just don't like them at all. On the topic of tutorials, there is something that I want to mention. I personally have never minded them all that much, even though I know people very much complain a lot about them. And I have only now realised that it's likely because of the same reason why most people don't seem to mind Fawful's reverse-tutorial here. Most of them are embedded in the story though the characters actively saying it, instead of just a disembodied text box popping up. It's just part of the game's dialogue for me, even though it does serve a meta-purpose. And so, I'd always just viewed them as no different from the rest of the dialogue; Toadsworth interrupts Mario because at that moment, he really wants to help him and make sure he's ready. It's part of his character and it's grounded in-universe. I know I seem to be in the minority with this sentiment, but it's how I've always felt about this series' tutorials.
