100%. all you do is increase your chances of losing fish. Best to just keep rod tip up and reel when fish not running. Actually no need to pump the rod either based on feedback from many charter captains. Never introduce any slack in the line. Great vid. Keep em coming.

It’s not about setting the hook, it’s about catching up to slack in the line from the down rigger release.
