I was under Alan at CCV. I was very young at the time and he caused me so much pain. So many broken and impressionable people fell victim to him. God saved me from CCV. You are so correct when you comment on how he embellishes a simple message with his words. I got to the point where I couldn't listen to him, it was nauseating.

@@JuliexSteadman I too can understand the feelings that many have encountered. Sometimes God turns structures upside down so that He can bring forth His will, His plans, and His purposes. This can be painful at times and sometimes even offend us and challenge our way of thinking, even our way of defining His church and His Kingdom. The word HIS is key. In regards to assets, there has been no loss of assets. The church is still standing, the doors remain open and members of the body of Christ still gather together there. God is being glorified, His Kingdom is still expanding, and Jesus is still the head of the church. No one person or group of people owns the assets. The assets fall under the corporate structure and the nonprofit organization.

@@newsongariseyes i would agree if i thought Bethel were genuine. it is they who have taken over annaheim.. Bethel are highly quesionable with their dominion theology (now and now of the kingdom BEFORE Jesus returns) And their book the physics of heaven which is completely new age... This whole thing of "if you're not on board, the door is over there" was first spoken and implemented by Mark Driscoll (at least that's where I first heard it). The bus analogy. Pastor casts the vision and if you're not getting on the bus, the bus will leave without you and you'll be under it.

Some of those terms I heard years ago in a Vineyard church with an out of control pastor. He constantly talked about "offenses", "third party offenses", etc. Looking back, I could see that he was trying to condition people to forgive him for his offenses to members instead of anyone confronting him. And if you were concerned about how badly he had treated someone else, you got accused of carrying a third party offense, one of the worst sins. That was in the late 80's, the first Vineyard church split I went through. I was fine because I left quietly from the churches that split over pastoral abuses. But I learned a lot in the process, and am very careful to make sure that a pastor or teacher doesn't misuse Scripture. Pastors who only teach topically can more easily fall into this temptation. I've been spoiled now with expositional teaching, going through the Bible or at least one book of it, verse by verse. It keeps the pastor from saying what he wants to say and trying to find a few verses that kind of use similar words.

Same with me! I think what really helped (I mean obviously it's humbling ourselves to God and asking Him for truth and all), but I mean in my understanding to WANT to get out of it, was that I'd dealt with different secular mentally and emotionally abusive people leading up to it. So I had learned a lot about what they do. Still, I fell for it with a "pastor" who's gaining traction online (Richard Lorenzo Jr) for a few weeks... then some of those weird feelings and data points (some red flags) started slowly popping up.. sure enough, praying to God for wisdom and truth, surrendering to Him, reading more of the bible and coming to listen to real Christians who share the gospel and respect God's word, finally made me open my eyes. All glory to God!

Oh, this is nothing, what the unbelievers see is much much worse than this. Most unbelievers see the liars, deceivers, abusers, haters, con-artists and manipulators of Republican Christianity, and they see most Evangelical Christians participating in it and fully supporting it. This pretty much spells out the end of Evangelicalism in the USA, with hundreds of thousands of people leaving Christianity for good.

In Carlos Castaneda's books about his apprenticeship with Yaqui sorcerer Don Juan the center of the abdominal area (read belly button) is a focal point of the sorcerer's power. It has a large significance in the series of books regarding supernatural power and how to manipulate reality. Wonder if Alan Scott has been indulging much in new age occultism.

“Check your bellybutton - not inappropriately” IS GASLIGHTING! It is NEVER appropriate for a pastor to say that to his church. EVER.
@Standing.W.Israel Жыл бұрын
you've never truly been gaslighted if that's how you are using it.... gaslighting is a bit more neurotic and far more tragic than how you described it..... True gaslighting is when you get really sick and go to a Dr because they can give you medicine to make you better and the Dr tells you you aren't sick enough for the treatments you are seeking, if you would just do X, Y or Z you would be better on your own... so not only does it fundamentally undermine the victim's judgment of their own health and well-being by saying something you know to be true is not true or even believable, but it simultaneously lays blame on the same person

I was a Vineyard member for many years, 3 years under Alan Scott. During these 3 years under Scott, I heard him make so many provocative statements that were designed to chase people out of the church who didn't agree with the culture (cult?) he was trying to create. He is a narcissist that believes himself to be a prophet. He claims to be able to see what people are saying behind his back (paranoia?). If you don't agree with him or ask questions, you are quickly targeted and will be eventually asked to leave. He continuously disparages all of the leadership before him and claims that he was chosen by God to save the church lead the church into the next level of growth and revival. It was in fact nothing less than a hostile take over, he promptly began getting rid of all of the existing staff, then he stacked the board with his own people and basically absconded with millions of dollars in church assets. If you play close attention to his sermons, you'll begin to see a pattern where Alan is speaking subliminally where he is either the victim or hero of his message. I've also heard him say that because so many are offended by him, it's an indication that he is in God's will and must be doing something right. By the time we left I was fully convinced that Alan is a very dangerous man! Here's a perfect example of a pattern going back to his days in Ireland; julieroys.com/exclusive-former-vineyard-staff-accuse-alan-scott-of-abuse-manipulation-lies/

..oh gosh, sorry to hear that. I attend Soul Survivor, Watford, UK. The scotts were sitting on the stage in 2019 at the naturally supernatural conference with the founders of the Vineyard before the take over by Bethel... We currently have our own problems - Mike Pilavachi - you may have heard...

I am ready to leave a church when the pastor asks me to turn to my neighbor and say some stupid word or phrase he thinks is important. But ask me to grab my bellybutton and I’ll be more than willing to turn to my neighbor and say “this guy is a moron.”

You two are hilarious😂😂. I just oove you, lovemyou. Your ministry is so biglical and helpful. Keep it up please❤❤

Several years ago I was involved with a ministry and discerned that it was no longer personally edifying for me. I and others left the fellowship respectfully and peacefully. Not much later, the "leader" of this group preached a speech on how God puts a "balm of offense" on those who aren't true believers so they'd leave; thus preventing any "damage" done by these "false Christian" dissenters. It was one of the most brazenly cult-ish speeches I've ever heard; and while misusing 1 John 2:19.

Wow I’ve heard something like this from many churches. One church said God was pruning the church when people left or disagreed. Cult-like indeed!

Yeah why bother going to church? All of them are the same?
@chickintruth Жыл бұрын
@@mariahconklin4150 Friend, this question could easily be taken as sarcasm, but in the spirit of Phil. 4:8, I'll say that there's immense benefit to church attendance. No, they're not all the same. Steve and Paulette promote church attendance with discernment. God bless you.

This “sermon” is just like one that was given at my former church, after my wife and I had left. The lead elder gave almost the exact same message, because several long time members had left, and even professed his love and devotion to his wife. Only months later he divorced his wife, he was forced to step down from leadership and within 2 years the church imploded.

Paulette is it carpal tunnel surgery? I’m seeing the surgeon in September to get mine scheduled. I had my left (dominant) hand done a couple years ago already. I know we both do crochet and almost wonder if those movements cause some of the impingement, but I’ve started selling some of mine so I keep going anyway 🤷🏻♀️. Praying for you and I’ll be right there with ya sister ❤

I was very abused by a church…unthinkable things happened to me there…when God opened my eyes, I left but am so thankful and humbled that I continued to look for a new church, I knew it wasn’t God’s fault…some people were shocked that I still followed Jesus…but I knew I still needed to worship the One who saved me

Having watched three seasons of Hamish Macbeth and listening to Alistair Begg nearly daily for years I’m not sure I hear a Scottish accent exactly - sounds Irish to me… not as pronounced as say Robin Mark but Irish more than Scottish

@sandraanderson7526 Who is Alan Scott? Scott was born and raised in Glasgow, and joined a Vineyard church in Glasgow in the 1990s. His brother John was pastor of South West Glasgow Vineyard until he had to step down following a relationship with a married woman in the congregation.
