I actually use Amazon SES for all my emails by verifying different email addresses/aliases. It's pretty slick, and FluentSMTP makes it super easy (especially when using the API connection which shows all verified emails as available). Is there a compelling reason to use a second service (i.e. Mailgun) instead of sticking with SES only?

With the setup in my video you'll have a separate sending IP and sending domain, which will protect one if the other is damaged (e.g. you're hitting spam, blacklisted, etc). It's possible to achieve the same protection by using multiple regions and buying dedicated IPs in AWS. This is a safety precaution and not necessary if you're not having deliverability issues.

@@757Church No, just the dns settings from the transactional email service.

Thanks for the video. I need to customize the transactional emails from woocommerce, what do you recommend? Using mailgun or Sendinblue as the provider, could I use their's drag and drop editor to edit the woocommerce templates? Couldn't find any easy answer to that. Thank you again

I use WooCommerce Email Customizer Plus from flycart. It's pretty affordable and my clients really like it. Here is my affiliate link: www.flycart.org/products/wordpress/woocommerce-email-customizer?ref=davidswift6

What's the difference between this and regular old webmail/roundcube?

This is for sending transaction and marketing emails from your website. Webmail or Roundcube are email clients for regular email interactions.

If I've verified my domain, does that mean I can send both transactional and marketing (2 different emails) from Amazon SES? Fluent SMTP only has the option from one email, but if I check Force from Email...will that send from the email I put in Fluent SMTP & the one in Woocommerce? Thank you for your answer!!

Hi Lulu -- a few things to clarify here, not sure exactly what you need so disregard anything extra :) 1. If you verify your domain, you still have to get out of sandbox mode. Make sure you do that. 2. Using two different emails for transactional and marketing is only helpful if they're not on the same domain. You need to use a separate domain (can be a subdomain) for transactional email vs. marketing email. 3. If your marketing emails are to a list of people who signed up (you're not sending them cold email/spam) it's not really that helpful to seperate things -- unless you're already struggling with inbox delivery. 4. Most deliverability issues are due to improper email authentication. Make sure you validate your SPF and DKIM records with a tool like Glockapps (profitable.tools/get/glockapps affiliate). A free account is perfect to do this.

@@dave-swift Wow thanks for the in-depth & fast response! You're the best on KZbin! Yes, understand must get out of sandbox mode. Early on when setting up AWS/SES we had to choose to verify domain or email. I chose domain because I thought you can then send emails from more than one e.g orders@example.com for transactional & lulu@example.com for marketing. I was planning to use AmazonSMTP for all emails. Yeh, I will only be sending to those who sign up on my website. Now I'm in FluentSMTP adding access key etc. it's asking FROM email. Hopefully, it doesn't matter which email I put (orders or Lulu) hoping I can still send from both with Amazon? I'm probably making it more confusing than it needs to be : ) Appreciate your time. Thanks!

I would use SES for sending only and then use your standard Work mail for receiving. If you're sending from a role account like "support@yourdomain.com" then setup a group or alias to route to your personal work inbox.

As far as I understand, it's a good idea to use a different email address/alias for transactional and marketing emails, but it only makes sense if you use a subdomain in one of them. Amazon SES is the most affordable email deliver service so I'd like to use it for both. Is it possible to create many Fluent SMTP connections all of them with Amazon SES? Maybe creating Amazon SES subdomains if that's possible? Thanks
@dave-swift
@dave-swift Жыл бұрын
When you confirm a domain with Amazon SES, you can send emails from any of its subdomains without needing to validate each one individually. For instance, once you validate example.com, there is no need to separately verify a.example.com or a.b.example.com.

@@dave-swift I'm sorry to bother you again. I've been testing it, and I'm not sure if I understand. I've created the subdomain, and it shows new DNSs. Do I have to copy and paste these DNAME, DX, and TXT records to Cloudflare too? I guess I don't need to create a new access key. What do you mean I don't need to validate the subdomain? Thanks
@dave-swift
@dave-swift Жыл бұрын
@@danielgil9747 Yes, you have to add the DNS records to Cloudflare if you're using Clouflare to manage DNS. You don't need to validate subdomains with SES. If you validate the primary domain, all subdomains are automatically validated.

Hi Dave, I have one question.. suppose I have 10000 email subscribers.. and the contacts are fluent crm list.. will it put any extra load on my wp server???
@dave-swift
@dave-swift 3 жыл бұрын
FluentCRM is very lean. You won't notice any difference in your server performance if you're storing 1K subs or even 300K subs. Beyond that, I'm not sure it's even tested, but there is certainly a threshold where you'd want to separate the two. I would highly recommend not using an SMTP server that is hosted on the same server as your website though.

Yes, you can add as many domains as you want to your SES account. Just be sure to verify them in the SES settings.

Good day Dave, U got my subscribe + all bell + all my respect! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By the way, Can I use web mail (C-Panel email) for sending email via AWS SES? My plans is sending Transition email + Email MKT (30-50K emails/month) Do I need to use G Suit business mail service? Hope to hear advices from U. Thanks so much!

Hey there! Thanks for your support and subscribing to my channel! 😊 Here are the basic steps to send email from cPanel through AWS SES: 1. Sign in to your AWS Management Console and navigate to the SES dashboard. 2. Verify your domain in SES by following the on-screen instructions. 3. Navigate to the SMTP settings tab in the SES dashboard, and create SMTP credentials (username and password). 4. Log in to your cPanel account and navigate to the Email Accounts section. 5. Open the email account you want to configure and click on "Connect Devices." 6. Scroll down to the "Manual Settings" section and take note of the Incoming Server and Outgoing Server settings. 7. Open your preferred email client or webmail interface in cPanel and access the account settings. 8. Update the SMTP (outgoing mail) settings with the following: - Server name: The Amazon SES SMTP endpoint (e.g., email-smtp.us-west-2.amazonaws.com) - Port: 587 - Encryption method: STARTTLS - Authentication: Your SMTP username and password generated in step 3. 9. Save the settings and test sending an email from your cPanel email account. As for Google Workspace, it's not necessary to use their business email service if you're already planning to use AWS SES. Google Workspace is more focused on providing an all-in-one solution for businesses, including email, document storage, and collaboration tools. Using AWS SES should suffice for your email needs, as it's specifically designed for sending large volumes of emails and offers features like high deliverability rates and a robust infrastructure. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions, and good luck with your email campaigns!

@@devlife5596 Hey there! I'm so glad to hear that my advice has been helpful for you. Regarding your issue with @hotmail and @outlook addresses, one solution you could try is to personally email people on your list using Microsoft products, one at a time, and ask them to move your newsletter to their inbox. Microsoft's spam filters are quite strict, but if you can get enough positive signals from your recipients, it should have a positive effect on your deliverability. In addition to this approach, here are some other tips to improve your email deliverability: 1. Verify your domain and set up email authentication protocols like SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. These help establish your domain's credibility and reduce the likelihood of your emails being marked as spam. 2. Regularly review and update your email lists, removing unengaged or inactive recipients. This will help improve your sender reputation. 3. Personalize your emails and avoid using spam trigger words, which can cause emails to be filtered as junk. 4. Test your email content and design, making sure it's optimized for different email clients and devices. 5. Monitor your email deliverability metrics to identify any issues and make adjustments accordingly. I hope these tips help you improve your email deliverability! Remember, it's essential to keep testing and optimizing your email campaigns. Best of luck, and let me know if you have any more questions! 📧🚀
