In this video, Tony & Derek go through the fitting process of our performance camshaft for the 350 J platform.
For this demonstration and the benefit of recording, we have removed an engine from a bike to display the fitting process. However, this is easily achieved at home with the engine fitted and in place on the bike.
The engine is from a 350 Meteor, but the process is the same for the 350 Classic Reborn and the 350 Hunter models.

Very grateful that you have produced this step by step DIY! But I think it needed to be a bit longer, some of the camera angles were to far away to really see what’s going on especially for a novice like myself An experienced DIY guy/gal wouldn’t have had a problem I don’t think? Overall a great idea! Thanks

I just got a Classic 350 and I would be interested in doing this myself. I would suggest recording this video again with the camera much closer. There was quite a few steps that are a mystery from the angle it was shot at. Please be aware this comment is coming from someone who’s worked for decades in high end aerospace manufacturing. I make methods (work instructions) for assembly. I suggest breaking down each step with each tool and their torque settings. This video should be about 40 minutes at least. Just my suggestion though.

I installed the decat pipe, DNA air filter, and fuel x lite from Hitchcock's. I'm going on week 2 of the upgrades and notice a bit of a boost on inclines to the point that I don't have to downshift to fourth gear anymore. The bike is able to hold fifth and actually accelerate uphill. Now granted, I ride my 350 like I stole it. I did these "upgrades" to hopefully have it run cooler and increase longevity...don't care about power on this bike at the end of the day; that's why I have my Kawi Z!!!Haven't measured mpg as I figured it would take a few fill ups before the computer system worked out the new bits. BTW, Hitchcock's has been awesome. I've received my orders usually in three days to Kentucky, and their prices are usually more inexpensive than American shops even with shipping.

For people who have limited ability (I've swapped the air intake and filter for the DNA option. I've de-catted/de-collector box after 2 attempts but feel this is as far as I want to go myself. Do you offer a service to undertake this work and if so, how much would it cost. What sort of power increase can we expect? The mod's I've done doesn't really seem to add any power, it just sounds much better.... Cracking the ECU is the real answer to releasing the potential power of this cracking engine.

I am realistic , but take a long stroke air-cooled twin like a 1970 triumph bonneville.. 649cc with a bore /stroke ratio of 0.87.. that made 50hp with a 9:1 compression ratio... 20.2hp is a little low.. 24hp would be better and enfield need to make their bikes lighter... The new triumph speed 400 with a liquid cooled 398cc single cylinder (39.5 hp) and 13 liter tank has a weight of 170kg wet... THe Hunter is close to 181kg wet.. The J series engine are great and the gearbox superb.. But to stay competive they need just a small boost of power and shave of weight..

I followed the link only to find that the cam and the tools are not available. Why not produce a printed instruction sheet with clear fitting step by step instructions with meaningful pictures/drawings. I know it is not fashionable in this online world but it's a great help if you can refer back to each step while you are going through step. Not all of us have smart phones and I would have thought that RE retro fans fall largely into that category. also why describe it as the 'English made cam' why not the Hitchcocks cam. this video was the first time that i knew you had produced the performance cam and calling it English made cam made me think that perhaps it was made/developed by someone else!

@@googlecontrolled I have replaced RE cams several times. My first production of instructional media was in the 1970s. This video is weak on several instructional levels. When Hitchcock goes with amateur videos, I suggested they hire some freelance producer/shooter/editor. There are practical, aesthetic and responsible reasons for functioning professionally with training/selling media. For one, amateur support decreases the intrinsic value of a company's image. It doesn't matter whether or not I 'grasp what is needed'. Without your demanding conformity, I will continue to make my own life decisions. What you didn't grasp is, this is not a tech boy contest in puzzle solving. And, my decisions comes from me, not you. Next time present ideas and not commands to people. You have a right to advocate for ineffective audio visual presentations. I myself, I like decent efforts which produce decent results. 25 years ago, Apple started selling Macs with software that could have done a decent job on this production. It boils down to a lazy approach. The presenters were fine. Shooting and editing were not so hot. Simple. For a sample of a small seller, who does a decent job on media, there is this channel. www.youtube.com/@acemotorstv2762

@@icedidi With a few hundred Dollars you can get 20% more Power. Their are several other rides who spend a lot of money on a acropovic exhaust to get almost non performance increase... And of course the small 350cc bike is not ment to go fast, but maybe you just want it to be a little faster for saver overtaking?

@@chriswatts6161 Better mid to top end so it climbs better and is a lot safer when overtaking slower traffic. It also climbs to its maximum speed quicker.

Very poor camera shots not showing every procedure in a clear precise manor. A far better video from Tiger Ness is worth watching to carry out this procedure.

If you want more power get the 650 or buy a Japanese bike.

I have a 650..It's quick enough, looks boring. The only Japanese bike that looks like a RE classic is the Kawasaki W800, at twice the price and... it's Japanese. If power is all you crave.. don't bother with an RE, they are absurdly de-tuned. I guess there is just something about a single cylinder engine.

Having watched this video I’m now feeling much more confident to undertake this task. While I’m waiting for the parts to come back into stock, can you please confirm that you supply some written instructions that include the torque settings of the items involved?

I love the character of the RE Classic 350. I have owned much faster bikes, faster but sterile. I am happy to spend $'s to make it run cooler & run properly but see little value or purpose in injecting the little 350 with steroids' - after all the bike has a speed limiter wired into the ABS.

Hello. What about the speed limiter? I was in the highway, Meteor 350, speed reached 117km/h. Same gas opening, few seconds Iater I heard the rpm reducing and speed back to 115.

Sorry lads, but that's one of the worst videos I've ever seen. A very interesting subject filmed from the far end of the workshop. Most of it was nothing more than a 'long shot' of two blokes looking at an engine. Those distant shots tell us nothing whatsoever. The camera needs to be 18" away from the subject, not 10 feet away. Could have been a great video.... But it was hopeless. What were you thinking!?

Person trying to learn how to do this. "Can you show close ups of what you're doing so I can see how to do what you're talking about?" Camera man. "Best I can do is a pan from distance at an angle that blocks you seeing anything that's happening"

Thanks for the video and the cam! Heard many comments about the improvement with this cam, but few details. So I'll add mine. Installed the cam along with cat delete, Fuel X Lite and 16 tooth front sprocket and DNA filter. The bike is much more responsive, more drivable, maintains highway speeds (65mph) without a struggle. I feel the all around driveability is the most noticed. The bike just responds better to throttle input. Is it faster? Not much really. The bike was always fun, but now it is a blast to ride. Worth the price of the mods? I think it is. The bike is now what it should have been from the factory. Remember, it's still a 350 with 20 hp at the rear wheel. You want to go fast faster fastest, get a different bike.
