Last week we spent a day at Cofete beach, and even though at the time we’ve been completely ignorant of Villa Winter’s history, the building was so intriguing and looked so out of place that I stated reading up about it that same evening. I now regret not visiting it, but at the time it just seemed really odd and uninviting…

Just another bunch of strange theories to make a video of the Villa? You better believe what Winter said in his interview. The soil is of high quality due to the fact that this once was (part of a) vulcano. Water was the problem here en thus he (Winter) created irrigation systems. The start of the building was 1936. However just the fundament was built . Just after the world war the house wasn't finished at all. It is said that the house was more or less ready by 1951. So was the road to the house. So this place could never have been a hide out for Hitler or some other high ranked nazi.

The comment of the architect about "growing tomatoes" reminds me of a story my father told me. After WWII some Nazis (?) found a hidding place in France. In center France some bought back a castle, it was surrounded with barbed wire and they had these fierce sheep dogs and would shot at anyone coming close to the property! Anyway my dad used to be in this area and locals told him about the story, so he decided: let's go there and meet these German owners. He drove to the main castle gate, and got out of his car, someone shot in the air toward him. And shouting: go away in very bad french. Anyway my dad called back and he got to talk with a German man who told him: I came here because this is the center of France on the map and this is why I chose this place.

Hahaha that's hilarious! Great Story man. Germans seem to like coming up with those stories. Where is the Center of France anyway, should be Paris, right? :o)
