Harbor themes are magical. I love how it sounds melancholy at 32:50 and then gradually gets more intense, as if personifying 47's rage against his creators.

What truly resonates with me about Jesper Kyd's work is his electronic style. While his orchestral compositions are undeniably exceptional, pieces like Ezio’s Family, Apocalypse from Hitman: Blood Money, and Hitman 2: Silent Assassin’s iconic main theme all stand out - it's his electronic tracks that are nothing short of masterpieces. The Hitman: Codename 47 theme, in particular, is a stunning example of his skill. Every element feels intentional: the deep, cutting sawtooth bass, the irresistibly catchy drum machine beat, the subtle cowbells, and those beautifully synthetic strings. It all comes together in a way that's unforgettable. Jesper Kyd truly outdid himself with this one.

The first title of the Hitman series had the best theme song and the coolest atmosphere of all themes (Contracts was a quite nice try to re-create this exact same atmosphere, I've to admit). Absolution is nowhere near the earlier episodes. Codename 47 had its glitches and other game breaking bugs, but it's a true classic which deserves a lot more attention than it gets now. It was so creepy and dark; different in every aspect from the other episodes. The game itself looks surprisingly well compared to its release date with large environment and maps; it featured ragdoll system which was quite new at the time (of course it was kinda glitchy), although it was introduced long before 2000, it wasn't extensively used until 2003-4 (you could even grab the bodies and hide them in the shadows, sewers, etc.!). It was an authentical game which can't be repeated.

Absolution isn't as good as the other games because Jesper Kyd didn't make the soundtrack. :(

Back at the days when games had inspiration in every aspect and was about the single player experience... 16 years later, we get a hitman game with absolutely no inspiration, full of achievement whoring just to waste your time fucking around the map trying to accomplice achievements instead of puting your own imagination of killing your targets.

Just don't look up the achievements, disable all conveniences (that's what I did) and explore the map, listen to conversations, that way you use your imagination and discover your own ways of killing the target. Besides a different composer and always online requierement, the game is great. Just one big map and I'm 30 hours in not getting bored.

Disabling all of the stuff makes it a very good Hitman experience with some of the best level design I've ever seen. I've never played it with them on tbh, so it's never been an issue for me.
@DM-kv9kj8 жыл бұрын
+bloodcorer Yeah, the original game was still better in terms of storytelling and intrigue than the more recent ones, which are all about looking flashy and being full of gimmicks. The music was better too, more interesting and varied - it became rather stock and repetitive cathedral chanting music since. Hate that shit, as much as I hate choral chanting in every damn blockbuster movie soundtrack now. The story and atmosphere etc are just whatever, and the original got me hooked so well because of the player immersion and fascinating mystery and so on. From Codename: 47 I wanted them to really expand on the sense of autonomy, space and ability to just use one's common sense and practical puzzle solving to find a few ways of carrying out the jobs. Instead I find they feel more and more like follow the breadcrumbs kind of levels, despite being bigger and fancier. Traditions of the Trade was amazing, for it's time at least. Still great fun to have a play through.
