Ah, see I started the series with BM, so I'm used to the fact that achieving SA is impossible if you kill anyone other than the mark. But the parameters in this game are very mission specific, and in Tunnel Rats I actually also killed one soldier and got SA. By the way, this makes sense from 47's professional perspective. Killing that one extra guard is tactically more sensible than risking exposure by letting him live, or going against the odds and trying to infiltrate without a disguise.

Yeah in SA and Contracts, if you kill one guard, you can still get Silent Assassin rating, but if you do more than that, you do not get the rating. In BM, the reason that you can only kill your mark is since it's far easier to knock out people instead of killing them in contrast to SA and Contracts, where you can usually only knock out one guard. That is true, from 47's perspective. Not sure if Absolution will have ratings, be a shame if it didn't.

The game is buggy like that, with your deal. The first few games have this, but Blood Money doesn't thankfully. I know your pain. What I did at the start isn't really a cheat, more like an exploit. You can kill him normally and still get the Silent Assassin rating, this just gets better stats. But I think it got the close encounter. I have found that without this, sometimes the body can be found. Nonetheless, you are correct.

Right now I'm at this mission, and I came here to find out just how to get inside without knocking out the guard and getting his uniform, because after a while, despite having a different disguise at that point, people still shoot at me. And apparently one must "cheat" in order to do that. That sucks. Having to knock that guy out and then making him die spontaneously so that it doesn't count against the stats. :( A game shouldn't have to force players to exploit something like that.
