Actually, he can jump. In Hitman Contracts, in the hotel level, you're able to leap from balcony to balcony to reach your target, and again in the final level, you can leap out the window onto the adjacent rooftop.

This episodic style is basically early excess for triple a titles which will work great with this game simply because people won't probably spend 60 dollars on a new hitman game (myself included) and the episodic system will lure you into buying the rest of the game, without any Holliday discounts because the game isn't officially out. Simply brilliant marketing strategy and I can see a lot of companies following this trend

The platform idea will make gamers explore the maps more. Playing it over and over, using different tactics. In the story version, people generally keep continuing the missions one after the other. And most people don't go for a second playthrough, with so many titles on the shelf. So, this platform thing will help the studio compel the gamers to explore the large maps more, which seem greatly detailed. It'll also help evolve the multiplayer, in my opinion.

The episodic format really impacted how I play the game. If I had access to every map right from the begining, I would play them all and finish them each once. With the episodic format I was able to explore each level in depth and maximize my entertainment to the fullest. Hitman Season 2 would be great if it was just a map pack add on to the first game. I love having all of the locations in one area. Having to switch between two different games to play different levels would be quite annoying. I recommend a 60$ dlc having 7 new locations. We already have the game, all we need is more maps, if we have to pay for another complete game, we are wasting money.

Honestly I don't see too much problems with the episodic format. Plus the maps sound fucking amazing thank god. I think it's an interesting idea but I will probably wait for the entire game by the end of the year. But maybe not. Hitman Absolution was the first Hitman game I tried and it was...okay. I've played the beta and I've gotta say, the game feels very true to the Hitman games of the past. I love that it's simple, not too intricate and gives you MANY ways of killing your target. Bateson makes his return and that's a huge plus for me. It seems like they're doing the Episodic type of releases because they want ppl to play it for a while. The maps are huge and the casual player will probably get bored playing this type of stealth game. Plus, the developers can add things to the maps over time, making the experiences different each time. It costs the same as getting a fully priced game, so I don't think they're trying to drain our pockets. The beta gets an 8/10 for me. I like in the previous games like hitman bloodmoney, before the missions starts, diana was speaking and briefing about the mission. sometimes you dont want to read but just listen. as an assassin you need to use all of your senses.

Haven't watched the whole video yet, but when he talks about people seeing through your disguise, it's not like absoulotion. In the gameplay that was in the video, if you saw when he was dressed as the mechanic, the real mechanic with the white dot over his head will get suspicious if he sees you, it doesn't matter if you use instinct, you'll still be seen.

So I just did some basic research on this game and found out that the intro and Paris map will only cost $15 and every subsequent location will cost an additional $10. Basically if you only want certain episodes you can chose those and leave out the ones that don' interest you, or you could pay $50 to upgrade to the full game if all you bought was the into, or you could just preorder the game for $60 and get all the content as they become available. I'm not really even a Hitman fan and I have no real reason to defend it but I feel like people are jumping to conclusions and automatically assuming that the intro and Paris will cost $60 and the expansions will be like $20 like it is with certain games when in reality you'll be paying the standard rate of any AAA game now-a-day.

I love that saving is back, so you don't have to redo a 3 hour mission because of one random screwup. Many is the time in Absolution that I used the piano wire from a wrong angle, and botched everything completely.

also they should really fix the weird thing where 47 carry's a weapon on his back, ether in one or two ways 1 make him hold the weapon like in silent assassin, where he just holds its closer to him and down so its less visible from afar, but still obvious from up close (making it nearly impossible to hide a large gun, meaning you can carry around a lot of firepower, but can't really use it for infiltration) 2 add a "band/lace" or whatever its called to the weapons so it at least looks realistically (as right now it just looks as if he has a nail in his back where he suspends the gun to as it mysteriously floats without being attached to anything)

The main reason they're doing this episodic thing is to keep the value of the game higher for longer. Look at other games new on Steam, how many triple A games come out at £50, but by the time the Steam christmas sale comes around, they've been reduced down to £20? This happens to most games and is why EA stopped selling their games on Steam. Having a new portion of the game added every few months not only lets the developers work more on it, fining out all the bugs etc, but how do you expect Steam/Valve to sell a "New" "Episode" (Game) for half the price after it just came out? Another big example of what they're doing with Hitman is basically most Telltale games.

Man, Hitman has come a long way as a series! I've always been a fangirl of the games, but I remember how *BAD* the Stealth was in the first few games. Good lord, until Blood Money came out, it was practically just a shooter series with great story! xD I'm so happy to see that they've continued to implement so many new stealth features beyond just avoiding sight. Episodic is great for publishers for two simple reasons: -Lower barrier of entry. Instead of having to pay $60 up front which people seem to find a hard pill to swallow, because it is, an episodic structure helps luring people in with lower prices. Just $15 for a starter pack is much easier to buy on an impulse. -Prolonged exposure. Usually they market a game up until the moment of release and then it's done. It's out there and you can't really promote it anymore since people are moving on to the new games. With episodes, you have multiple times in a year you can promote your game. Promoting Episode 3, for instance, might get people to buy Episode 1. If not for the promotion on the later episodes, they would have forgotten about the game. So instead of trying to hook people once, episodic games have a chance to hook people every time an episode releases, usually about five or so. Neither of those seem very anti-consumer to me.

i grabbed some bugs n stuff out of the first day of the beta: soundbugs when you shoot with guns (sounds disappear or cut off) animations aren't rigged right onto the actions of 47 like hitting someone or using the string is sometimes glitchy and some fps drops if there are too many npcs at once. but all in all it is interesting and reminds me mostly of bloodmoney (played it afterwards lol)

Pretty sure that screen-shot of the "original" Hitman is actually from Hitman 2! I could be wrong though... I never actually played the first one. It looks like it's the very first level from Silent Assassin.

just so everyone knows, if you buy this when it comes out on disc at the end of the year, you'll miss out on almost all of the extra content they are adding daily/weekly like elusive contracts (which are almost better than the story). I just bought this game 3 days ago and it's worth 60 bucks right now. I promise if you like hitman at all, you should go buy this NOW NOT AT THE END OF THE YEAR!!

Never played a Hitman game, so I welcome the new way they are releasing the game. I can buy it for a cheaper price to get the intro content, and if I enjoy it, I can buy the rest for only $5, making my total cost $65. I think it's a great option to welcome in new players to this game

You didn't mention anything about the fact that Hitman will use DirectX 12 and will feature Async Compute.

The reason they are doing this in my opinion is to make more people to buy into the game without forking out £40 thus making partial sales, eventually this'll make it easier for them to charge more per "episode" since games these days games are getting ludicrously expensive with season passes and such. 1x £40 game vs 4x £12.50(£50) game for example.

Wait if these levels are so big, how do you get around? Do they give you a vehicle (of your choice maybe)? If you steal one, then would it make you more liable to getting caught or chased by law enforcement.

You showed the chart with the March content (3 locations), and the April, May, and June content (3 locations) but were incorrect on the dates. According to IO, when it launches March 11 there will be 3 locales, with a new one each month for 3 months. No idea what's coming after that.

I've always loved the Hitman series. A mix of open-world and strategy and I'm glad they're going back to that. But the platform thing is what is holding me back. When they say that they will release more and more missions as time goes on it makes me think is this going to be something like Payday 2 where you have just a few maps you go keep going back to or is it a new map for each mission. I'm very skeptical on this. I might just wait until it all releases on disc.

of course the enormous mission maps are very welcome and its understood that graphics are compromised because of this but since its on a next gen platform compared to absolution I think the graphics are a massive back step
