Kate was honestly the heart and soul of this movie. She really brought so much to it.

Watched the titanic 25th anniversary early today mind bowls me how she didn't win an Oscar for her role in the titanic 🤯
@amby1989 Жыл бұрын
Just like she didn't win for Eternal Sunshine, Little Children , Sense and Sensibility or Iris
@victorsamsung2921 Жыл бұрын
Well, DiCaprio got *no* nomination for Jack's role either. So, somewhere not unsurprising. I am not sure why, but I guess it probably had to do with the 11 other wins. Not to forget, Winslet was only 21 years of age ... which would have made her young for an Oscar win. And Winslet has said how she still had to improve a lot. So, better to win it with The Reader than Titanic. With the added 12 years making the difference or refining her talents and acting skills.

And she lost to that awful Helen Hunt performance too. 🙄

I went to see it in theatres again yesterday and it brought me back to that thirteen-year-old girl watching it in the theatre with my aunt. I was spellbound by the music, the sets, the love story. I would watch the double tape vhs over and over until we had to get rid of our vcr. And yesterday, sitting in that theatre, I was a girl again. ❤

Titanic’s original movie poster is a masterpiece! Nothing beats the awe and striking tone of the original poster, but I love how they paid homage to original for the 25th anniversary.

Must be. It was a huge $1.8 Billion grossing hit in 1997-98, in addition to the extra $1.2 Billion in VHS and DVD sales etc. And now it's in a 48 frame per second rate and in 3D and 4K of course.

I watched it at a cinema in 3d yesterday, it was great. I had only watched it at home, and the emotion really was stronger at the cinema, you could feel how happy everyone on the titanic was, and then that happened... and more than half died. Half of the people there were crying so much 😭

I just watched Titanic two days ago and I have to say…. The sensation was different, this whole time I watched the movie from phone/TV, the music and feeling also the 3D surely is one of my most fantastic experience that I’ll cherish and remember forever. I cried so hard during last scenes like literally crying for 10 minutes straight in the Jack died scene

Thanks for doing this interview. Interesting and insightful. And of course, nice to see that Kate Winslet hasn't changed in those 27 years after. Of course she is older, but her personality is still the same of being kind, respectful, honest and thoughtful in these interviews.

The night I got out of the hospital, after my third back surgery, I went to a late showing of Titanic, and I hobbled my busted ass, across a busy turnpike, with a walker, and I could not wait to see this movie that my hairdresser was absolutely enamored with, and she brought me the soundtrack, in the hospital, and she was so moved by this movie that I knew I had to see it. But since I was a child, I felt so connected to the story of Titanic, and my great grandfather's boss died on the Titanic, and I still have the front page of the New York Times when the ship went down, and I have no idea why I felt so connected to this tragedy, long before I knew about my great grandfather, or really any details about this tragedy, I felt deeply connected to it. Well, I must've seen the movie, at least three times, in the movie theater, and it was just as magical, each time, as the first time, and I bought every kind of paraphernalia, including props from the J Peterman Company from the actual movie, which are my most treasured possessions, and this movie, and the song are really the most beautiful of all time. I was so blessed to live at a time, in history, when this tragedy paid tribute to all the people that lost their lives on that tragic night. This awesome movie really did justice & paid tribute, to the most tragic maritime disaster, of its time and of all time. I often wonder, if reincarnation is real, and I have a sneaking suspicion. It is, was I so connected to it because somehow I was there, or I lost someone on that ship? It's kind of a tragic thought, and I hope it's not true, but I still remember finding the front page of the New York Times, in my basement as a little girl, and I was absolutely transfixed by the story, in such away, that was haunting, and I remember running upstairs and making my family tell me all about This tragedy. I can remember weeping as though it had just happened, and I was a little girl when I found this paper, in the 1970s, long after the Titanic had gone down, but I went down to the basement, for many years, & I couldn't stay away from that haunting newspaper cover, and it cut so deep, and when I was 18, I made sure to hold onto that tethered cover. May all who lost their lives on that ship, that night, that tragic night that should've never happened, may they be at peace and their families as well.🥹😔💔💙🙏💜

Titanic would now be the 7th highest-grossing movie ever (behind The Avengers 4, Avatar 1, Avatar 2, Star Wars 7, The Avengers 3 and Spider-Man No Way Home) if it had never been re-released. Titanic grossed $1.843 billion in its initial release
