The video zoomed 1x and I was unaware so sorry frame isn’t centered.

It’s always exciting to see you’ve uploaded a new video and I’m glad you posted this video in spite of the framing issues. Your explanations are concise, insightful, and articulate, and your knapping is impeccable. All of that added up makes for an exceptionally entertaining and educational knapping video. And yes, that is some particularly pretty obsidian.

Glad it was helpful even though kind of annoying to not be completely in view

The framing isn't that bad. The instruction is very valuable. Thanks for not tossing it out

I think I missed this one originally. This is excellent, despite the low framing. 😁 For me the most valuable advice you give is using the hammerstone on those edges that are still a little steep and/or heavy, over using the antler in those situations. Also when I was a very young knapper, everyone always said "relieve it" first, and it took me a really long time to figure out what they meant. You have a really nice demonstration here, on the second edge, where it needs some "relieving" from the top first. The "lexicon" of knapping is sometimes a little opaque at first. That would have been a huge help for me! It still was! Thanks Marty!

That is a nice chunk of sandstone. Obsidian is so slivery. I get cut almost every time I work it.

I’ve got smaller obsidian and dacite slabs. You can email me martyrueter@yahoo.com

Marty. Why even use an antler?
@Flintknappingtips2 жыл бұрын
What do you mean? Instead of only hammerstone? I can hit leaner edges and thin more rapidly than keeping edge thickness necessary to thin w this grit hammerstone.

@@Flintknappingtips ah. OK. So it's not as aggressive.
