(*hint; its worse than the wife beating verses)
@tasneem60527 жыл бұрын
Yes, the punishment for adultery is death, only if there four witnesses who are righteous whom witnessed the incident caught them in the actual act and that is a case that almost never happens there is actually a punishment for those who accuse for the crime and don't bring four witnesses , and that and that is mentioned in detail in Sura An-Noor. These cases need have to have deeper understanding and you cant go read the Quran and then translate what it means from your own perspective, then what is the point of having scholars? I don't think anyone who reads a book of law can understand and go by it unless he/she learns it. If that's the case why go to law schools? Quran is far more than that, it is the words of Allah and constitution for mankind. May Allah give us and you a better understanding and guide us to the straight path.

Also send the message to weak women who can't control their anger or their hands that think they deserve a pass for their behaviors just because they have a vagina. WE CAN ALL CHOOSE OUR ACTIONS BUT NONE OF US CAN CHOOSE OUR CONSEQUENCES. I do not recognize nor do I give vagina passes. Apparently, too many people are still perpetuating the normalization of societal abuse against men and employing shaming tactics against men to convince them that accepting physical or verbal abuse from a female makes you a better man when we all know that is incorrect, hypocritical and foolish.

@Nayla Khan Were you aware that over 70% of ALL UNPROVOKED acts of domestic violence are at the hands of WOMEN against men in the United States? ALSO In the black community ALONE... Intimate Partner Violence in Black communities is routinely blamed on Black men. Reports show that BLACK WOMEN have historically been as violent (at times more so) than black men Please do research *"Black Men as Victims and Perpetrators of Dating Violence” in the Journal of Aggression, Maltreatment & Trauma, p. 240-243.* Also, violence in the black community is not affected by large-scale black male incarceration or an absence of men. It is a FACT that violence in black homes and communities CONTINUES even without black men at the hands of none other than BLACK WOMEN. *SOURCE Straight Black Men Are the Scapegoats of Black People: VSB’s Black Eugenics Renaissance and the Pandering to Make Attention Outweigh Death” by T. @Altair So you hate wife beaters but this same hate is not extended to women that strike people or engage in violent abuse? Why is that? This idea of Men only expressing anger physically and women only by mean words is BS and completely misleading and false considering the FACT that 77% of all unprovoked acts of domestic violence are committed by women against men and even children. Women are running more than their mouths these days and in case you have not noticed, women are now comprising the fasting growing group being incarcerated for the female increase in violent crime. Please give women their just due as it concerns this issue and cease giving them passes just because the have vaginas. Domestic violence is NOT a one sided issue. women are more than just mental abusers. They are also violent YET they believe they should not have the same consequences for their violence purely because they have vaginas. All of us can choose our actions but none of us can choose our consequences and YES this includes women too.

my problem with this ayah is not about beating. if allah wants to demomstrate a legal framework allah may say this and also i would say allah shouldnt say it only for men. my prime problem with this ayah is about the caretaker part. How come allah say husband is the caretaker or responsible one upon wife. its the premis which cant be supported. if allah start with this position its not surprising to say beat her. in husband wife relation none should be given caretaker title alone. this is flawed logically, ideologically and philosophically

I already reached to my conclusion that its not from devine creator not only for this also for so many issues with islam. Dust Sparkle The Qur’an and prophetic practice clearly illustrate the relationship between spouses. The Qur’an says the relationship is based on tranquillity, unconditional love, tenderness, protection, encouragement, peace, kindness, comfort, justice and mercy. prophet Muhammad, set direct examples of these ideals of a marital relationship in his personal life. There is no clearer prophetic saying about a husband’s responsibility toward his wife than his response when asked: “Give her food when you take food, clothe her when you clothe yourself, do not revile her face, and do not beat her.”

If you feel that angry that you have to beat your partner then it probably means you need anger management, therapy, reevaluation of your ethics and morals. Rather than thinking the solution is just to divorce, one should take responsibility for the failure of the relationship and for one's actions. It takes an ego free person to do so and I pray for the perpetrators of physical violence and emotional abuse and I pray domestic violence and abuse victims to seek help from Allah. We are all being tested by each other's egos and from the silent whisperings of the dark forces coming at us from in front of us, behind us and from our sides.

I really appreciate your perspective on this ayah. I have just been blessed to begin my journey of exploring/learning God through Islam, (which my family are all Christian) so I don't have any type of influence/help beside my own self and what I'm learning from reading the Qu'ran... so I am always cautious that I am ingesting the proper authentic wisdom that God has gifted us with, understanding that God does not oppress us, rather help guide us if we open our hearts to His glory. Anyways, I did just read this surah recently and came across that... naturally from reading that, I perceived that ayah along the lines of how you have explained... but of course as I've said I am very cautious that I don't develop these understandings because I am new to everything. I'll close with saying thank you for the affirmation and this have encouraged me to trust my heart under God. Peace & blessings to you!

I don't think anyone should hit a woman for ANY reason. I don't think anyone should hit a man for ANY reason. There should NEVER be physical violence or abuse in a relationship. Ever. I have heard that the word used in this ayah (daraba) means to separate. This makes more sense to me because other places in the Quran Allah explains how good it is for a person to swallow their anger and control their anger; this skill can greatly elevate you in the eyes of God. Also, the prophet NEVER hit or physically abused his wives or any other women; so using daraba to mean "hit" doesn't seem to go along with the Sunnah of how the Quran was lived out by Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Furthermore, defining the word daraba in the context of the ayah (4:34) as "separate" seems more logical considering the sequence of events---trying to talk to your wife first, then leaving them alone in their beds, then...hit or separate (moving out for a period, perhaps divorce as a final result) rather? It seems more likely that the word should be translated as "separate" here because each step in the ayah is a progression of adding more space between the spouses. "Hit" just seems like it came out of nowhere and overall doesn't seem to fit here. (In addition, aren't there several Hadith about the Prophet stating that men should never hit women?) Brother, can you or anyone else from Bayyinah please comment on this interpretation a little further, and especially in terms of why you don't necessarily agree with it yourself?
@marmour109 жыл бұрын
+Kaleigh Fetcko first time i hear this interpretation as separate , yes it does make sense and it is conform to what we know of the sunnah especially that the prophet saw never hit any of his women. but in case it really means hit which allah knows best, then its a light tap on the body not the face and without leaving a mark so it doesn't fit into the description of hitting as darb but rather its like scolding or being mad at someone without hurting them and it doesn't seem off too!!
@tsgillespiejr9 жыл бұрын
+Kaleigh Fetcko We aren't talking about ideal situations though, as I think NAK made clear. We're dealing with unfortunate realities of the human experience.
@siddiki97789 жыл бұрын
I don't know from where you heard that "Daraba" means to, "separate"? One needs to look it from a linguistic side not just mere assumptions. Anyhow, Ibn Abbas (RH) explained it as a light tap, like using a meswak. Not actually a hard punch or something like that. Also, one must keep in mind that, one shouldn't just directly resolve to this light hitting but the matter is s you described that needs sequential efforts made before this light hitting. Ex, separating them, not talking to them, making them understand etc.

Brothers, Hitting someone who is physically weaker than you weather they were women or children makes you less of a man REGARDLESS of the situation. A simple rule that I live by life by is “ treat others as you want to be treated” This allows me to live in peace knowing that I can’t mistreat other human being ever. Also,let’s not forget that Allah SWT revealed his word to a people (the Arabs) who were living in sin and were probably ruthless kuffar at that time, so it is normal to come across Surats that were made for that specific context. And Allah knows best. May Allah bless you for inspiring such dialogue.

When you commit a crime you go to jail. Your will doesn’t matter. If a woman disobeys her husband (who is righteous and not abusive) over and over again then Allah commands first to discuss together with reason, then separate and then beat Lightly (as commanded by the Messenger of Allah and supported by Mainstream Scholars) this right given to men from Allah is only possible with "certain" factor not applicable for all. People in Middle East and South Asia Mistreat and Mistand this verse. On the other hand people in west sugercoat this verse. Its haram to hurt enough to cause a bruise, or to feel a lot of pain. 2) Because she lied to him(SAW) and hid from him(SAW), he criticizes her asking her why she thought he(SAW) would deal unjustly with her to make her lie like that. 3) He didn’t awaken her because he(SAW) didn’t want to frighten her and because he(SAW) thought she’d gone to sleep, caring for her. If he(SAW) knew it had caused her much pain he(SAW) would have likely gone lighter. Just because you would like the conclusion to be “beating women is allowed,” doesn’t mean that it is true. Many scholars agree that beating(enough to cause a bruise) is forbidden.

Sahih bukhari 5825- Abdur Rahman beat his new wife Rifa to a pulp since she wanted a divorce and when the messenger of Allah came to know about this he came up with a new rule which is -Abdur Rahman should have sex with rifa first! Let alone the beating , the apostle dint even care about that . I really wish qurran has equality for women . How can someone who is supposed to be the best person to literally everyone around him be allowed to hit his wife? Makes no sense. What he literally says is that IF you hit her , even though it's forbidden and wrong (in a blackout rage coz catching your wife in bed with someone else is really messed up no matter who you are) Allah will let it pass. Didn't say it's ok , but He will let it pass ALTHOUGH He says earlier in the ayah "leave the bed". Divorce her. So it doesn't happen. Hope this helps

@@tayyabahmakda7086 I am not sure what you mean. But I have a cycle in marriages. Men ignore wife except when they want sex. Women need emotional attention to feel physical attraction, so do not feel attracted to their husband. So men feels rejected and ignores wife. Wife feels rejected so loses attraction. I have had men complain to about their wives not wanting sex. I ask them if they treat their wives like furniture? Than I tell them they need to talk to their wives. If only couples didnt think of their own needs only, but be willing to give of themselves and time to their couple. Because of men talking to me about their wives, I have concluded married persons should not be friends with oppisit gender. Its too easy to comfide in a friend than start to feel close to that person. Its easy for a friend to comfort the other person because they dont have with that person and their life doesnt rely on them. That is how alot of affairs start. I love how the Quran speaks of marriage and encourages both men and women to be good to each other. As a women, it has saddened men so many men just see women as a means to satify themselves and not as a friend and partner. A pretty women can twist a man into anything it seems, while us women less appealing to lust get the worst. If men were not so shallow and lust driven, they would not be so easily malipulated. I would like to see more men be more than driven by their desires. If it didnt work, women would not do it. I hope my marriage will be of mutual love, respect and friendship. I believe that dharba or hit really means to walk away from entirely. The Qur'an gives 3 steps: direct the woman to a better course, leave them alone in the beds and then dharba... separate totally. This is why ayat 35 goes directly into "if you desire reconciliation"... why would you need reconciliation after hitting? You need reconciliation after TOTAL SEPARATION.

These kinds of abuses and their traumatic impact can change a person completely and spred their effect like a pernicious virus in the whole family. Some can’t leave because of the psychological matrix of the mental abuse - they end up locked into the relationship manipulated, threatened and gaslit to an extreme. And some women end up dead. Hitting is domestic violence and it's a crime as well. And not only does the victiom suffer, the kids as well. They suffer emotional and physical abuse way beyond childhood. Some kids go on to hit themselves, or get mixed up in drinking, etc. Others vow not to be like the abusive father or in some instances the abusive mother and do well in life even with emtional scars. Anyway, there is no excuse to hit someone you love. If somebody hits...it's time to get out. Marriage is love. It is not about control and getting whacked across the face or punched. The one who does these horrible things probably got hit him or herself by a parent...and yes, usually by the father. Sometimes one can get therapy but chances are slim. The best thing to do is get out of a violent situation and move on. Nobody deserves to get hit whether a woman or a man. This also includes verbal abuse as well. Abuse is a crime and one can go to jail. There are tough laws out there against these crimminals.

Abuse starts when kids are little (Like they see one parent hurting their other parent) and they learn it's ok to abuse. You have to bring this topic up and go into detail. Where do abused women go for help? What about their children? What laws protect them? Where do men go for anger management and what is their punishment? HUGE TOPIC. Needs a lot of discussion.

I watched this video based on a recommendation from a friend who really liked it. However, I can't find a single reason to like it. Mr.khan doesn't talk directly about the Aya. Instead, he starts by telling people that you can't disagree with an Aya. He uses people's religious feelings to prevent them from refusing what they see as wrong. I have been grown up and taught to think critically and criticize what my mind refuses. Now, he is saying that I can't see Ayas with neutrality and try to build a neutral opinion. I have to limit my mind to think only about the positive parts. That is not respectful to the human mind. I don't believe that Islam treats my mind in this way. especially when I take into consideration that Quran keeps encouraging people to "think." another thing that I really didn't like is how he mistranslated the Aya. He said that you get to hit the woman if you SEE her cheating on you. But this is not what the Aya says. The Aya is still speaking about "those women you are afraid of their noshooz", (he says that noshhoz is cheating on the husband). The Aya talks about the fear of noshooz not the action of noshooz. and No. nothing in the Aya talks about the perpetual infidelity. It just talks about FEAR. I'm feel that he is just making this point of SEEing your wife cheating on you, a point that is not really there, to reach a predetermined goal which is showing Islam as a good religion that does not really allow hitting women. However, maybe he just misunderstood the Aya (if Arabic is not his first language). I expected to hear something better, to find a good explanation of this Aya, and to find more integrity. Instead, I only found someone who mistranslated the words and increased my negative feelings toward this Aya.

+Esraa Abdelmotteleb Brilliantly put sister. There's no justification for beating women. He begins with pre-supposing that all verses are perfect but I don't think that's the case. I think for Islam to have genuine meaningful reform, we need to concede that the Quran may not be perfectly preserved. The best Muslim argument for why they think the Quran is preserved is using a verse from the Quran itself, and that as we know is circular logic and not a sound argument.
@9salman7 жыл бұрын
Esraa Abdelmotteleb listen again from 10.0 Its only for a specific case which is committed repeatedly ..
@farzanatasneem6 жыл бұрын
Esraa Abdelmotteleb Islam puts most of the burden of marriage on the man while woman is the one who is supposed to demand the conditions to live with the person in marital relationship. She asks for power and she asks for the house to live in and the husband is supposed to provide her with all the commodities of life in his own capabilities. He is also supposed to take care of her safety in accompanying her or to arrange for her safe journey if she has to travel somewhere. With excessive responsibilities comes the rights of faithfulness and trust. When he is out for work, his wife, who married him for money or other life comforts can call another man of her choice for her gratification. This is quite common in Western societies. And westerners accept it as their right to enjoy bed with whomever they like. But a husband who is working hard to bring lavish life for his wife is ditched and Islam gives right to this husband to take measures to bring his wife back to himself and thus save the family from breaking while in West a husband takes the right to sleep with someone else while still continuing the marriage ties, which brings an end to family life. Obviously a family where husband and wife both are cheating on each other can't have peace with it's children as the husband will always suspect the paternity of children attributed to him and will not feel like working hard for them. And the society as a whole will lose hard working men.

4:34 is a very interesting ayah, since it's actually one of the very few ayahs that can have so many different meanings. Some scholars including Nouman Ali Khan believe that it actually means "beating", but clarifies that it's a form of light beating. But I have to be honest, it doesn't make sense to me to give my wife, whom I've caught in bed with other men and thus left the sleeping bed, to give her a light strike/tap. First measurement is to talk with them, secondly to leave them and the last one is to give them a tap? Smth doesn't seem right. Actually beating the wife seems to be against some ayahs in the Quran (men being protectors, constantly doing morally good things, that every life is sacred, embracing justice, kindness and peace, that we all belong to Allah and only he can judge us, etc.). I also found out that "daraba" can mean "to go away" in certain cases even without a preposition, this would also apply to its form in 4:34 "idribuhunna". Also the prophet Mohammed's (s.a.v.) view on violence, especially against women, was no secret: he absolutely detested it. In one hadith his two wife's started to become jealous of the third one, because she was so beautiful. The prophet loved honey and was eating honey in the home of the third wife, hence why the other wife's planned to say to the Prophet that his breath was smelling unpleasantly of honey, so that he'd stop eating and spending that much time with his third wife. After he found out about their plan, he went away for 1 month. Because of this, the translation of "going away" seems to be the most plausible one to me. Some translators even translate it as "go away", the Sublime Quran by Laleh Bakhtiar for instance does so.

@@celestialvenus6711 He is talking about that this surah ismainly talking about people who are not in the right mind or exceptionnel cases. Yet it is talking about inheritance which a very normal subject. It is also talking about polygamy which was a common practice. The story with the orphans is indeed an exception. However you could also say that in some communities orphans are cared for by families and get to be a part of the family. While other communities have orphan houses. The mortality rate was higher in the past so there would be more orphans than nowadays. So in that sense it is not that exceptionnel. And nowadays we find incest disgusting but incest was normal for a long time for families that find there status very important. How do we know that this ayaa is talking about cheating and this ayaa is very specific about the order you have to advice them, then you don't have sex with them and then you strike them. However what if you didn't have any suspicion at all and suddenly you see your wife cheating on you that could happens as well do you still have to through each step before you strike them. He made a scenario that fitted nicely in this ayaa his scenario contained three parts as well first your suspicion starts. Second your suspicion gets strong third you caught her. Sometimes you get caught directly without any suspicion.

@Abdul Rehman Shaikh i was asking what men are supposed to posses to deserve such authority that they can correct their wives Ibn Kathir says that a man can discipline his wife (or hit her) when she “acts as if she is above her husband, disobeys him, ignores him, dislikes him, and so forth.” Is this a wife or a slave? The reason he can do that is apparently because leadership suits men and not women - and he spends money on her so he has this right. He goes on to quote Hadith that a place with a female leader shall not succeed (they should not be judges too) and that angels curse women until dawn if she refuses to sleep with her husband. I have to tell you that men are no better or worse leaders because they were born male. And that it doesn’t mean because you provide for someone that you have the right to hit them. Where does the Quran talk about women who provide for men like Mohammed’s first wife Khadija did for him. Did she hit him when she feared his disobedience? All of these reasons are weak and demonstrate a harmful man made law designed to keep women under the thumb.
