Hive Metastore and AWS Glue Federation in Unity Catalog

Thanks for the demo. How does this differ between having a databricks catalog based on s3 external location and a databricks catalog based on glue?

With Glue federation, you can automatically sync tables defined in Glue into UC, however, they will be managed by Glue and not UC, so they are read only from UC and only have limited feature support. If you define a UC native catalog using external location, then the tables on it are managed by UC, and you can also enjoy UC managed only features.

Can I use lakehouse federation to query data from hive table which ran on server if I have hive, hive metastore database (mysql).
