Hi thanks for the video. I have several of these in my home. I get that in principle controlling the temp in each room helps make the house more comfortable. I'd like it if you explained a little more about why you say these valves help improve your heating system efficiency though? I've found that the valve sensors and algorithm do not give an accurate or consistent temperature reading, the reading jumps as the radiator heats up so they don't work very well at controlling the radiators to a room temperature set point as advertised.

I have 6 radiators, 5 with trvs. If i was to replace the trvs with hive, and set these at 22° could I set have the 1 without trv set to frost control 7° with my hive thermostat controller. Or does the controller need to be set to the maximum temperature of the trvs in use. Say 3 at 22°, 1 at 14° and 1 at 18°. Can the 1 with no trv just be left on frost control 7° via hive thermostat.

Do you really change room temps that often ie would a modern mech trv not be as good.

I think its a fair argument but i wouldn't say theres too much difference in price to where if you already have a Hive its a no brainer. Also with the weather in the UK never know if we're coming or going haha. Boiler should be off in summer but there i was turning on the living room radiator last week

Could you use these in the bathroom on the towel radiators to only have these turn on, wet towels are not the one. Thanks

Yes this is a great use, I have them on my bathroom radiators for this exact reason but bare in mind when shower has been used the temperature of the room will rise greatly making the readings unclear

Do you need to have a Hive TRV on all radiators or can you just do on select?
@iheat5 ай бұрын
Just on select radiators but they'll only control that rad, if you have multiple in one room it might be more efficient to turn them all off but one with the Hive TRV on as that will better control the temp of entire room

Is hive better than bosch thermostat? Im using worcester bosch 8000 style.
@iheat Жыл бұрын
Are you on about the EasyControl Smart Thermostat? Or just a generic Bosch thermostat, the Hive beats majority of basic stats from Worcester, but the Easy Control Smart Thermostat is perfectly optimised for your boiler. Great choice in boiler by the way, I've the same one!

trvs numbers correspond to a temperature, no?
@iheat Жыл бұрын
Yes for sure just not 1 degreee, 2 degree etc

I’ve move from 22 to 19 over 3 years gradually. Try I am not in TShirt in my home anymore, but I now much prefer 19 to 22 which feels far too hot. Dogs do not need 22… Not sure where you got that from.
@iheat2 ай бұрын
Haha they set it to 22 themselves! But congrats on the gradual lowering, can make for a large saving across a year / time at a property

TRV is useless unless you have a separate temperature sensor away from the radiators. The temp sensor on the TRV is wildly inaccurate and always turn off the valve too early making your room too cold.
@iheat3 ай бұрын
I agree it can be wildly inaccurate, i see their best use being able to turn off radiators in certain rooms than the capability to turn them on. Also is a reading next to radiator better than no reading at all?

Trv numbers Correspond to the air temperature in the room . 1 is 12 degrees, 2 is 15 degrees and so on
@dc99yt3 ай бұрын
nope, they correspond to the air temperature close (1 inch away) to the radiators, not average room temp. 😂
@russellthomas93913 ай бұрын
@@dc99yt who mentioned average . I am correct , each numbers on the dial will shut off the rad at the preset temp, you knew exactly what I meant , keyboard warrior

Or you could just balance your radiators properly.
