3:47 But how do I create this file? Never used a hex editor and I'm trying to edit battle backgrounds in Phantasy Star III, which aren't already in the Aridia editor for the game. I can see the palettes in Regen Debugger version but not sure about the addresses, seems they're in a different format than in the editor.

Alianger That file in this case KidChameleon.Pal is just a text file created and saved as .Pal. Inside the file you give up the starting positions of a color and the followed by the number of colors which it needs to load in the program

Alianger I did an attempt to change the a color from the main logo but didn't have trouble locating the color, tried two different color once but the screen turns up red after that 0.o

Alianger What should try is load the ROM in the program and than select "Browse For Palette" and then you can scroll with with page-down trough the ROM. there maybe different tables throughout the ROM, at 031136 is a large color table. If you need more help add me on Google+ or so, I would like to help you when i have time

Thanks. I've since been doing that and have created a first patch for the game which you can find here: www.bwass.org/bucket/?a=last. I was under the impression that there already was a complete address library file ready for me. The one thing I've not been able to edit is places with cycling colors where the palette is changed quickly during gameplay.

This program would be effective for alot of people is someone showed us how to grab the rom serial number in hex.

No there isn't have you made change to the file "ROMs.def" ? if not the program doesn't recognize the Kid Chameleon ROM. it's at 3:07
