Great review! You happen to know what the width of the head is? Tried looking it up but can't really find anything.

Thanks! The amp is about 23 1/4 inches (590mm). The specs for everything aren't exactly on the website- they're found in the product catalog, which can be downloaded on the website. I believe it's a pdf file.

Does it match even with an 8 ohm input cabinet? or it only requires 4 ohm?

With solid state amps you can safely drive a cabinet with a higher impedance, at the loss of some output power. 4 into 8 is fine. 4 into 16 would also be fine, but the amount of power lost would be considerable. The good news with you having an 8 ohm cab is that you can add another 8 ohm cab for a 4 ohm load. That said, I have run the Bulldog through an 8 ohm cab as well, and it totally gets loud enough to sit with a full band. If you have a well designed 8 ohm cab with efficient drivers you won't be missing much.

I the Bulldog a tube amp? Kind of hard to get the specs for this thing. The Hiwatt website isn't quite clear.

Hi there; I honestly can't believe that I didn't mention this! In an earlier cut of the video I elaborated more and touched base on this, but I hate excess talking on videos. Anyway, the amplifier is entirely solid state. That said, it also utilizes a toroidal transformer which is a really nice touch in this price point. It's obviously not going to compete with an all tube SVT or more expensive all tube offerings from Ashdown or even Hiwatt itself, but it's a solid head that fills a niche for the superficial part of some of our brains that want gear to "look" the part. So far we've been running it every Thursday for 5 hours plus the occasional gig, and it's held up well.

@@balderdashsir NO worries :). Pretty awesome thanks for the overview. I think perhaps as a non bass player (just a producer) I'll maybe stick to software for what I need out of a bass but I do like the look of these. Not strictly necessary however. Their tube amps look really good.
