I intend to do another demo straight into my 2x12 mic'd up proper! this set-up does sound pretty identical so it'll fly for now. here's some info I found from ARV Hiwatt's replies on the Gear Page that I've been sharing with those who are curious about these and the previous Crunch models: "There'll be a proper press release coming soon, but essentially we took all the good bits of the old Crunch Series and made a few adjustments; improved clean section to take pedals even better, actually removed a little gain from the overdrive section which helped keep clarity on both gain channels, improved fx loop, installed an fx loop in the 50 which for some reason didn't have one(!?) and upgraded a few components to increase stability."

Sounding good here. Awesome amps. I love my Super Leeds 150! It’s been about 6 months now I’ve had mine. Definitely a keeper amp.

Hi there.Great demo,thanks! I saw somewhere that you had a Leeds 50 and traded it for this Super Leeds 150.Was thinking of going for the Leeds 50 as I’ll only be using it at home - is there a huge difference in tone between the two? Thanks!

@@HamerSpecial thanks! only reason i went for the 150 was cos I had the 50 nearly dimed at rehearsal. and solid state being what it is volume wise, I'd need more to work with. the 50 still sounded incredible & clean & OD1 are the same (OD1 supposedly is modeled after an 800). but the 50 doesn't have the OD2 circuit which goes into modern metal territory. the 50 can still do early metal (works great with boost pedals!) but the OD2 sure does help! double check with your dealer to see if the 50 has an effects loop cos early ones did not. cheers!

That’s fantastic,thank you! Probably wouldn’t need the OD2 as I’m not a metal player,but good to know.I’ll certainly check about the effects loop.Cheers!

@@alilhouston Would you say the 150 is loud enough to gig with? Also what cab do you use?

How does the line-out sound? Does it require a cab sim for DI recording/playing into the PA? or is there one built-in? I have a Katana right now but want something analog and dead-simple to use with my pedals that I can plug right into my PC or PA without any fuss.
@alilhouston5 ай бұрын
definitely not built in. I was running the 150 line out into an old Line6 UX1, Gearbox software, no amp selected, selected 100w 4x12 Celestion Greenback Marshall cab. sounded pretty identical to my cab. I think it needs speaker/cab sim to sound convincing/good.

@@alilhouston Hiwatt support said it has a cab sim built in but I haven't been able to find one and test, maybe they we're referring to the headphone-out?
@alilhouston5 ай бұрын
@@Nickraculous hmm. I just A/B'd - line out and headphone result sounds the same (line out without my added cab sim). a bit thin & fizzy to my ears so i didn't assume it was a cab sim. i LOVE this amp but for the result you're looking for might have better luck with a Quilter! :)

I’ve been doing some research into these amps as well, so I reached out to Hiwatt support. When I asked if the direct out was emulated at all they said “it’s not an emulated line out, just direct atm.” Which the “atm” line makes me thing they are maybe already working on an update with cab sim for the line out.
