To anyone confused, this is adirect repaint of the 2019 KotM updated figure. But compared to the OG Hiya release, its got updated sculpt, paint, some updated joint tolerances, and fixed the neck/jaw cosmetic issues

My only problem with this is that there's too many improved versions of the same figure in a short amount of time. You never know when to buy one because it's probably gonna get upgraded anyways.

They pretty much covered majority of the variations of this Godzilla. Unless they want to do with playmates did, and come up with some random neon colored one. Aside from 2014 the only thing I can think of them doing would be a potential update. If it’s rumored, this guy gets a new look in The New Empire.

They should do a updated version of Kong 2021 his butterfly joints look strange on him and we all like figures with a large variety of articulation sometimes

But the KOTM Hiya figure was pretty much the improvement figure that was needed, it fixed all the problems people had with the first release. This figure was just not needed at all as Hiya could’ve made a different titan that hasn’t been made in figure form. The “updated” 2021 figure is basically the same as the 2019 one, they just replaced the tan colored wash to black and removed the teeth paint for some odd reason. It would’ve been fine if Hiya had just released this figure instead of the KOTM and be done with this sculpt instead they pulled a SHMA move and made multiple versions(2 of which are the atomic breath version) of the same figure.

I love hiyas figures and i am getting the updated versions of their figures. The improvments make it worth it. They not only improved the neck and jaw they increased the sculpt detail and the paint is better ad well. Its not like shm using thr exact same figure just repainted for their monsterverse figures, selling it over and over again.

This is why i believe that they'll do the same with their ghidorah; Since reviewers say that the necks have a good pose for looking up but are a bit limited for looking down. So if they fixed their godzilla, then they can do the same with ghidorah.

I am so happy that there was a review for this figure. I'm a kid and looking for figures for a stop-motion. I found this figure and I was going to buy it but didn't want to because I was scared that it be way too fragile or just unmovable. And then I found this video, which was a great help for me.

Great review Anthony! I've the 2019 and the 2021 2.0 figures, both are fantastic, but, in my opinion this new one is better. The 2021 2.0 has a better paint on the eyes and the general body, It does not have the mold line on the jaw like the 2019, the articulation and sculpt is the same. Regards!

Great review! I think this company is doing great work, definitely looking forward to hiya toy's upcoming Ghidorah figure. For the questions I think the color scheme is good but is a little too bright. I'll only buy a redone version of a figure if it's significantly better than sell the old one but it rarely happens in my case since I toned down collecting recently until I use a bunch of the older figures I have in stop motion projects

As for the QotD....I hate the color scheme. I'd preferrer a dark red/blue gradient. As for getting an updated version: If its a major update (like this one is IMO, YES. I've blown so much just because the company did what they should have done in the first place. Case in point: SHMA Destroyah....the 1st release was bad, loose joints and black eyes. Then they made a special color version with tighter joints, yellow eyes, and some extra tanks. I still use the other version in one way or another.....either for fodder parts, dioramas or as for my old Destroyer, I hung him from the ceiling.

In general, I'm all for updates when they're done right and drastically improve the original... for a figure like this with no accesories and a slightly better articulation.. nah, to me it's not enough to buy a second one. I'd much prefer it if they do another version of the character, don't know if they have just the rights to the american Godzilla but I'd LOVE if they do that new one from the upcoming Minus One movie, or from the Shin Godzilla movie, or the Singular Point series those designs are great and I just can't afford the SH MonsterArts at my country without them being so damn expensive.

I'm ok with version 2.0 or improved versions if it is done correctly (similar to Bandai's Master Grade Gundam Freedom 2.0). If it is just a repaint, they should not call it an improved version

It is a repaint of the 2019, but this was made to give people who couldnt order the old g21 a second chance but this one gives a better neck.

I got this pre ordered off bbts since last spring or earlier now think. But I ordered it since I wanted th original one and at time it was costing so me more then reg cost. So I pre ordered this one. Now they have the original one out the for reg price but I’m still waiting for this updated version now in hopes it would be better then the original. But unfortunately in past I have ordered some updated figures I already owned in past, but they first had to be good in first place and the updated one has to have fixed some of the issues may had with the og one or give better accessories etc. with the newer version. So it really depends on if I get an updated version and already own original. As for this Godzilla I do wish they painted the teeth at least

There’s a big difference between the original GVK Godzilla and this one. But it’s the same exact same sculpt as the Hiya KOTM. It seems like an odd update when the KOTM version WAS the update

When it comes to the color scheme of the Godzilla versus Kong merchandise, I won’t lie the blue and orange, didn’t really bug me as much because blue was primarily used as the color for the King of the Monsters promotional material and orange was always associated with Kong merchandise. As far as the update goes. I actually prefer the dark color scheme of this figure more than the Godzilla 2019 version. But I don’t plan on personally getting it because I’m more than satisfied with that figure as it is. These guys do amazing work and I’m so excited to get my copy of Rodan and King Ghidorah here soon.

So if I have the updated KoTM is there any reason to re-get this guy? I do wish there was a bit more range on the legs, but at least he doesnt crumble to pieces like all the SHMA one (except for my poster color). I kinda hate to spend another $50 when the MA Minus One is right around the corner.

This one and the KotM one that just came out like 2 months ago are the same figure just painted differently. This one is darker as the KotM one has some light browns across it's chest. I don't have this one but from the pics/videos I've seen so far it looks like the teeth are better on the 2019.

QOTD: Honestly no, I waited for the 2019 King of the Monsters version knowing it’s supposed to be with the Ghidorah figure. I like the color on it better and was the one Godzilla I had my eyes on. Not worth it for the slight updates, but will definitely wait for new figures to come out. Also worth nothing; I’m passing on the skull crawlers and MUTOs.

American Godzilla vs Japanese Godzilla. two different takes that arent really trying to compete. Minus One looks more like a classic godzilla while monsterverse looks more like a dinosaur
