side grab (aka mawashi uke) to hiza geri is my fav staple, ended many sparring bouts with it when my opponent resisted the forward rolling throw (aka maki komi nage) lol gedan hiza geri to the thigh is simply beautifully brutal though 😅

Oh yeah super useful technique especially against people who neglect proper balance in favour of forward aggression! Osu!

Is it just me or does Kyokushin Hiza Geri reminds anyone else of the knee strikes in Dutch Kickboxing?

@@SaikouKarate People generally say that Dutch Kickboxing mainly comprises of boxing with a little bit of Muay Thai, and deny the influence of full-contact karate in it. Is it true that Dutch Kickboxing is really similar to Japanese Kickboxing?
@SaikouKarate
@SaikouKarate 4 ай бұрын
@@jamesloganhowlettwolverine1553 Nah. Originally dutch kickboxers were mostly kyokushin karate black belts who donned boxing gloves and practiced head punches. To deny that is to straight up deny history. It started in a gym in Amsterdam called Mejiro gym, which is the same name as the Japanese kickboxing gym by Kenji Kurosaki (Kyokushin Karateka who left hoping to bring the style in a more combat sports direction). The founder of the dutch Mejiro gym was directly trained by Kenji Kurosaki.

@@SaikouKarate So, Dutch Kickboxing is basically a mix of Kyokushin Karate and Western Boxing combined with a few Muay Thai techniques.

@@jamesloganhowlettwolverine1553 Yeah basically Kyokushin but streamlined for competitive kickboxing bouts with boxing and some Muay Thai techniques

Guess you have to make one for elbows now. I thought you were allowed to grab momentarily btw? Or was that a one handed push? 2:02 🥰❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹😂

Momentary grabs are ok as a part of catching and sweeping a kick if done as a fluid motion but I would avoid it in any other case for competitive rule-reasons and instead try to use the arm with a clearly open hand to push or strike simultaneously to accomplish the same leveraging purpose as the grab.
