HK P9S Function Test

HK P9S Police Surplus
Centerfire Systems was blowing out some foreign police surplus pistols. The HK P9S.
Don’t know much about these, but the price was too good to pass up. We would NEVER pay HK market prices for discontinued P9S rack-grade guns.
Glad to see it worked. Now we’ll need to figure out how to take it down and clean it for long-term storage. Might even try to dig up two more magazines.

The point everyone fails to talk about when talking about the gun is the fact that instead of rifling it has a polyhagonal twist barrel. And that's one of the primary reasons it's so accurate

Yeah. I get it. Polygonal. Hexagonal. But since I am a precision rifle shooter who is also quite an accomplished pistol shooter; all this stuff about pistol barrels is kinda shuck & jive talk by people who actually don’t shoot for groups on the record. A good engagement range for a pistol with grouping is 25 yards. An extended engagement range with a pistol with measured grouping is 50 yards. So what is a good group for pistol shooters at 50 yards? 2 inches. But let’s say it’s one inch. Just for giggles. A base line, read kinda cheap, modern precision rifle is 1” at 100 yards. Or Specifically 1 MOA. Which is 1.047” at 100 yards. A good gun is usually measured by being .50 MOA at 100 yards. Hand loaders can get their guns down to 1/3 or even 1/4 MOA at 100 yards. But…outside factors such as barrel heating can tweak that all to hell. Summation…Don’t oversell the “non-traditional” rifling on handguns. From a functional, practical standpoint, in the human hand, it makes zero real world difference. Absolutely zero. If a dude can shoot a handgun well, he’ll shoot it well. The rifling pattern doesn’t matter and isn’t measurable in his hand. Glad you liked the video. Regards, Marky

I managed to score one from the same vendor. They sold out in a day. Really glad I got it. Really cool addition to my collection. I even shot mine in the local steel challenge match. There was a vendor on ebay with new production mags for cheap. These work great in mine.

Gun Jesus doesn't like the cocking lever, as I can recall, he described the decocking procedure as "unacceptable" or something like this. I like the idea! Due to its fixed barrel it's one of the best pistols for suppressors. The gun doesn't have to deal with extra weight or the muzzle brake effect of the suppressor (a 5 inches barrel was made for the target version, much better to thread). It was on the cover of my first Gun Digest, in 1982. There is a plastic recoil buffer above the barrel. Is yours in good condition? Buy some extras. I would love to buy one, but I am almost a prisioner in Brazil. 9 Luger became available for civilians one year ago, but used guns are not allowed.

While the manual of arms is wacky, the action itself is dead simple classic HK: a roller delay system very similar to that found in the G3 and MP5.
