It’s crazy how you explained the polymer-steel construction and the accessory rail, showing just how ahead of its time this pistol was back in 1998. It’s rare for a gun from that era to hold its own today, but the USP Expert is still a player, even against newer models like the Glock 34 Gen 5 or M&P 2.0. Sure, you could go for something cheaper and more modern, but you’d be missing out on that iconic H&K charm that makes the USP stand out. BTW, shoutout for keeping it real with your ammo experience and acknowledging the price fluctuations and availability issues...these are the kinds of insights that make reviews like this invaluable. It’s not just about telling people what to buy; it’s about arming them with the knowledge to make the right decision, and you nailed that balance. Keep up the great work!

@michaelakakeigen367518 күн бұрын
Great Review as always and since I own a USP Expert in 9mm and have used it in competition for a few years now, I feel compelled to add my two cents. It’s a phenomenal shooter, super accurate and it just works, no hiccups no issues for me just dead on reliable. The frame definitely is it’s biggest downside, imo it would need a larger (maybe steel) frame grip and a not so tanky slide. Seriously the slide is thicc and made of some extra strong steel. Adding a mag funnel is great for the exact reason mentioned in the review, you get a bit more real estate to grip on. But it can’t be understated just how cool it is. It’s in every game imaginable since the 90s. It’s just so recognisable and such a good looking thing. I absolutely love it and I consider it a forever piece in my collection.
@BigSmitty12 ай бұрын
Thank you for saying it’s okay just to buy a gun because it’s cool. My p30l is a gun I couldn’t find an excuse to need but she’s my baby. A beautiful range toy with a comp. Makes a great piece for a backup home defense but again I just like it.
@varanid92 ай бұрын
Is that the John Wick model? A local shop had the P30L and the VP9 comp versions ( I think Reeves used them in the first 2 movies ) and I almost bought one of them just for that. The only reason I didn't is because I couldn't decide between the two and they only had one of each; I wanted a pair, LOL.
@BigSmitty12 ай бұрын
@@varanid9 Yessir that’s exactly what introduced me to it. It’s the p30l with a comp from Hk Parts. It’s a slightly different version of the comp from the film but I actually think it’s better aesthetically. I run 147 grain ammo through her as it suggests 124 and above and haven’t had a single malfunction in at least 4k rounds. I’d definitely recommend you grabbing it from your local shop. The trigger is meh but the fit and finish is 🤌🏾.

A few years back I bought an HK USP Elite 9mm. Mostly the same gun, except the slide is slimmer and the barrel is longer (6") along with HK's Jet Funnel mag well. I installed the Gray Guns short reset kit which does lighten the single-action trigger a bit. Between break-in, that kit, and proper lubrication the trigger will find its way down to 3.50 - 3.75 lbs. I also bought the Gray Guns Straight Trigger for it. For me, that was a BIG game changer. Trigger control became easier. With good ammo, this gun can shoot 1" groups at 25 yards. I have done it from a rested position several times. I liked it so much I bought the 45 acp version of the same gun. It shoots just as well. I know there are all kinds of other guns out there, but my USP Elite pistols, based on the sights, the trigger, and especially the grouping potential are actually good buys. Canik, Walther PDP, etc.... They will not group like these do!

I've never owned a USP9 or USP40, but at least the USP45 frame seems to be perfect in my hands. I love that it doesn't have a cheesegrater 1913 rail. The combination of pyramid texture on the front and backstraps with the side panel texturing works perfectly whether I'm shooting with bare hands or gloves. The size and shape of the grip fits my hands like it was custom molded. The paddle mag release just works better than any button, and is the only thing I can carry in a Crossbreed Supertuck without ever popping the mag loose. Also, I've done that walkback drill with my USP45 Elite out to 160 yards. I think the Elite is the best .45 semiauto for the range and the USP45 fullsize with the Match Trigger kit is the best carry pistol, but I think the USP Expert is the best looking semiauto pistol. I don't know what I'd DO with it, but I want one. Also, try entering a USPSA match in Limited with your Expert, not production. All you would need is a couple extended baseplates to get your capacity up.

@johnjohnston2439Ай бұрын
Nice: I've had the USP 9 Tactical and the USP 45 Tactical. Noticed on the USP 9 Tactical, that the barrel did Not have "O" ring, but that the USP 45 Tactical had the "O" ring barrel. Now, I'm running a pair of VP9 Tactical's with Octane 9 suppressors. I noticed on the USP 9 Expert with 15 round mags on sites for around $1450.00 and the USP 9 Expert with 18 round mags around $1609.00. The USP 9 Expert with 18 round mags also come with magwell. Is it true that the 18 round mags are metal now versus the 15 round mags still being polymer? Only thing I never liked was the short mag release levers on the USP, unlike the VP9. Was thinking at time I had the USP's of putting in an aftermarket mag release, but heard the metal release would over time eat into the polymer of the 15 round mags. Which is why I was asking if 18 round USP 9 mags were of metal versus the polymer? 18 round mag is about 2x the cost of a 15 round mag though. Enjoy watching your site.

Previously had the Expert 9mm, now I own a standart USP 9mm, upgraded it with match trigger kit, jet funnel and 18rd magazines. Jet funnel perfectly extends the grip, match trigger kit makes it en par with Expert. It's a brilliant gun, and not as big as the Expert, it is also insanely reliable and accurate. . BUT I like the USP Compact more. I don't know why, but Compact of of the box shoots just better than full size USP, even with the match trigger. Compact is equipped with lower profile decocking lever than the regular USP/Expert. That allows you to grip the gun higher and to better manage the recoil. It may sound funny, but in my opinion, the best of the whole USP line is the Compact.
@onpsxmember2 ай бұрын
The compact lacks the buffer system that is key to the longevity of the USPs. That is why it feels different. There is no impact at the end of travel on the spring system. It is a trade off in rotation. That is why it is a horrible idea to ask for a 10mm USP. The compact still lasts a long time.
@Forfittter2 ай бұрын
@@onpsxmember I don't think it is the buffer what makes the difference. Compact has better trigger, slightly better ergonomics, similar recoil impulse as the full size USP, accepts P30/VP9 mags. None of this things has anything to do with buffer/recoil spring. IMHO Compact, as a package, is just slightly better gun, in terms of fun factor. At least for me.
