The start of a new year brings with it our top 20 player ranking, and 2019 was no exception. From January 1-20, we revealed the players who shined the most in 2018 with a series of in-depth features breaking down individual performance over the year and explaining our reasoning behind their ranking selection.
This year we revealed the top two players spots on the same day, with Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev beating off competition from Nicolai "device" Reedtz for the No.1 spot after a close race.
The highlight movie takes us down memory lane as we look back at a historic year, compiled in almost 20 minutes with jarring performances from players who impressed the most in 2018, hailing from 13 different countries.

Every astralis's player on top, they are all higher than top-13. NaVi have only S1mple and Electronic in top-20. Individual skill more important(((, but ind skill is depends by minding game and mind game of all players of team is giving teamplay)

2018 was an amazing year for CS:GO. I got to go to my first event and my first major, 2 events in one year. It was so exciting. Even though my interest in the game has waned a little bit, I still play it and I can't wait to attend more events and watch more professional matches. This game has a true legacy in eSports, and I'm so glad that it continues every single day. Here's to a great 2019!

Honestly even back on hell raisers and flipside everybody knew that simple is insanely skilled but he always had attitude issues, these seem to have gotten better ever since liquid but predicting that simple will be good was never hard.

First of all great video! But hltv are you kidding me ? A top 20 based only on stats but stats dont mean everything. I hate to see Astralis win every event but Xyp9x placed 13th? What a joke, he is a pure monster, best clutcher, master mind, huge rounds, he get so much important frags its not only about geting 30 frags with 12 eco kills and against tier 2 teams. This guy have so much impact, he can kill in very situation, making plays after plays.
