Such a cool experience and amazing scenery and landscape! Hluhluwe-iMfolozi is probably our favorite game reserve so far! But we didn't see leopards there either🙈😅

Lions, rhinos, monkeys, elephants! Wow! Very cool! We don't see too many elephants in Canada...and rarely talk about them... even when they're right in the room .

Hi David and Sarah, what a great video of your Safari experience. It was amazing seeing the Elephants so up close and also the Water Buffalo. It is hard to realize how big they are until you see them up close. So glad you your were able to see at least one female Lioness. Seems like your Tour guide was very friendly and Knowledgable. What did David think of the experience having the Chameleon climb on his arm?

Brings back lots of memories for us we lived in Richards Bay for a year in the mid 90s, went back to Maputo in 2003, then Richards Bay again in 2019/2020. We spent lots of weekends exploring both the Umfolozi and Hluhluwe sections of the game park. Stayed a few times at Hilltops in the lodges overlooking the valley just like the one that you showed - I miss the smell of the thatch roofing. In all the times we went there we only ever saw lions once in the Hluhluwe section of the reserve and it was on our very last visit. Probabaly went to game parks 50 times over our years living in South Africa and Mozambique including The Kruger, St Lucia, Umfololozi, Hluhluwe, Pilanesburg still havent seen a leopard. If you leave Hluhluwe through the top gate the local kids put on traditional dancing in their home made traditional dress in the carpark just outside the gate.. If you get a chance while you are in that area dont miss visting the world heritage listed St Lucia and doing a hippo cruise, you should also try and visit Shakaland which is a little inland from Empangini at Eshowe where you will get to experience some real Zulu culture. Unfortunately covid cut our last stay in South Africa short by a few months we were very fortunate to get on the last Qantas flight out of Joburg before Australia was shut down.

Hi Davo! Are you South African or Australian? Thank you so much for your comment! We have been to Hluhluwe twice now and have been blessed to see lions both times. It's such an amazing park! We visited St Lucia and had such a great time! Even saw a croc 😍 Covid ruined so many plans but so glad everything is slowly opening up again!

@@DavidandSarah I am an Aussie who lived and worked usually for 6 or 12 month periods(spread over 30 years) in Kwazulu Natal and Maputo Mozambigue . We spent a lot of of our time exploring the places you are posting so it brings back memories. Most of our trips were in Kwazulu, Swazi and Mpumalanga but we did sometimes venture further Cape town, Joburg and Sun City etc. Glad you are enjoying your trip it is a wonderful country - are you guys South African, Canadian or Aussie. I keep in touch with some South African friends who live in the Umhlanga we visited that area reguarly before we had to get out of the country due to the covid.

Wow that is so awesome! Sarah is South African by birth but left with her family at 10 years old to immigrate to New Zealand then 10 years later moved to Australia and then 9 years after that moved to canada. We've both been living in Canada the last 18 months. David is Australian. We love South Africa through 😊

Guys enjoy your time in South Africa we always did. What town did you grow up in Sarah and what part of Aus are you from David ? We have been over to NZ 4 times as tourists and its also a place we love going to. Years ago we spent a few weeks in Canada as I had to visit a sister plant in Trois Rivieres. I took my wife and we used the opportunity to visit places like Montreal, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Quebec City. The guys at the plant even gave us some tickets to see the Maple Leafs and Canadiens play in Montreal and that was a buzz. So by now you should be able to tell the difference between a black and a white rhino with just with a quick glance - probably good to know that if you are going to hang out in the game parks because the black ones can be a lot more aggressive :)
