We live in a wondrous time in terms of dazzling quality model trains appearing from the East (and Canada!). Older railway fans with disposable income mean that exquisite locos like this one will put older models in the shade. Appreciate them, guys, this can't continue indefinitely. My collection may provide a real benefit for family upon my demise!

If I didn’t read the title, I would’ve thought the engine was the full sized version. Yes, the set is THAT detailed as shown in the thumbnail.

One question that comes into my mind. How large is it, compared to Bachmann Emily? I know the Bachmann Gordon, is smaller than the Hornby one.
@willausterman31044 жыл бұрын
It should be larger. Bachmann is HO scale which is 1:87 and this model is OO Gauge which is 1:72.
@secondchancejunkyard79464 жыл бұрын
@@willausterman3104 Hmm, I'll keep that under my hat for now. I remember reading something from the TTTE Wiki that reads like this. Contrary to popular belief and what is often stated, the range is OO scale; this is due to the amount of stock reused from OO toolings. The HO label is only included for the fact they are predominantly sold in HO standard countries. Likewise, the narrow gauge range is in the OO9 gauge.
@willausterman31044 жыл бұрын
@@secondchancejunkyard7946 the Bachmann models were originally tooled and produced by Bachmann USA not Bachmann UK. Bachmann USA does not make OO Gauge or OO scale models. Bachmann UK does not, to my knowledge, make HO scale models. Hornby's models were, for the most part, repainted versions of existing locomotives and were OO. The Wiki has clearly gotten it backwards but that is to be expected from a Wiki.

I could do with one of these 00 scale Sterling Single Wheel locomotives for my layout; at least I would be able to thinly dress it up as Emily when I run a model version of a Day Out With Thomas event, a unique character since no heritage railway has ever had Emily yet....

Have the front "fenders" over the front guiding wheels been removed for running? I see them clearly in the first picture, but not while running ...am I (not) seeing things?
@hornbymag6 жыл бұрын
You are quite right - they had been removed during this video. It will operate with them on, but it take a little time to adjust them for perfect running. HM.
@dtaylor45524 жыл бұрын
@@hornbymag I would like to see Locomotion Models produce the Stanier 3 cylinder 4MT and LTSR Class 79 via Hornby next year because since I am considering doing a layout of Southend On Sea and Southend East in the days of the LMS in the 1930s in 00 Gauge and since I am an admirer of former Love Island contestant Megan Barton-Hanson myself I would have the layout built for her to remember me by, and since Megan Barton-Hanson has been my celebrity crush from the beginning I have faith that the layout of Southend On Sea set in LMS in the 1930s would be enough for me to win Megan Barton Hanson's heart over because she was born in Southend On Sea on the 6th of March 1994.

The running model appears to be bereft of splashers on the front bogie. Do they have to be removed to take curves?
@kingorry72236 жыл бұрын
Gnostic Brian yes, I believe so.

They can be fitted in several positions according to the curvature of your layout, I believe.

what coaches are they using here? not sure what rolling stock goes with the locomotive?
@MrDavil436 жыл бұрын
I read that accompanying carriages are being considered by Locomotion. Damn! I'll have to buy them too. But still crave a Wainwright D (SECR)
@Rog2506 жыл бұрын
The coaches here are British Rail post 1948 so not what the Stirling (which were retired from main line duties in the earlly 1900s) would ever have pulled! Great Northern six wheel teak would be most appropriate but none currently available from ready to run manufacturers although NRM has promised coaches in future

Honestly, the DCC sound does not impress. It always sounds so tinny and muffled because of how it's handled, which makes it seem really not worth the (absurd) price hike.
