Oliver Hazard Perry class guided missile frigate, cheap and nasty designed in the early 70's they were known as a low capability ship and were built to fight in battle groups not one or two out as they were more for air defence. When we received our first FFG's in the early 80's being HMAS Adelaide 01 they were basically out dated then but we still bought 5 more over the next 10 years. More over these vessels were one of the first ever to designed buy a computer and was done in less than 24 hours and just adding to your comment about Helo complement they only ever carried one, well at least the ones I served on, cheers.
