okay for now is possibly the worst freaking book in the world! at least the first two chapters. the story is not that bad dint get me wrong but i hate the authors word choices. he must repeat the following words a 100 times: i'm not lying, freaking, stupid, hate, dont you remember?, a really cold coke, typing continuing little bell dinging. the author treats you like you have memory span of less then one page

it gets better, most books get better after the first two chapters except for the random few that get worse becasue the only thing good about the book is the concept. also, the reason stuff gets repeated isn't because of lack of words in the author's vocabulary, it's because when people actually talk they have speech patterns and words and phrases they like to use. schmidt is trying to illustrate how doug thinks/talks. ever heard about like unreliable narrator and all that stuff? also, sorry for replying to this 10 years later but i really want to argue with people about this book and i cant find anything
