I am so pleased to see this excellent performance because my alma mater, Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, has very strong ties to Norway, being sponsored in part by the Norwegian American Lutheran Church. In the many years when the Luther concert band and Nordic choir were conducted by the legendary Weston Noble (Google him, you'll see), the band and choir both performed before the Norwegian royalty. Weston was presented with a ceremonial sword by King Olaf which Weston displayed in his office thereafter. Crown Prince Harald also came to Luther to be honored in a very elaborate ceremony featuring the entire Luther faculty in their robes plus many civic and state officials. I was in the band which played the "Strategic Air Command March" for the processional on that occasion . Weston, being the dramatic showman he was, timed the piece so that the last note of the march sounded just as everyone on the platform sat down, just exactly as their rumps hit the chairs! In his remarks, Crown Prince Harald went out of his way to acknowledge Weston and to praise him, the band, and the choir at length. It was quite an occasion; I remember it well, even after 50 years!!
