I would have thought a survey ship would be the LAST type of vessel to accidentally run aground. My GOD !

Accidents should absolutely not be happening within a navy fleet sent to charter waters. With all the equipment aboard this gross negligence.

It was no accident
@davidtaylor351Ай бұрын
The reality is. Accidents and breakdowns can happen with any ship. Now there may be negligence involved here. However, at this stage we don't know what factors were at work. But given there is going to be a Court of Enquiry. My concern is... Both the Defence Minister and Navy Chief have been speaking up for the Commander of the ship, who happens to be a woman. Yes it is good that no lives were lost. And you can acknowledge that. Nevertheless the ship was lost. And given the impending Court of Enquiry. They need to be circumspect in what they say!

NZ doesn't acknowledge the defence forces, they don't appear in big parades, on tv or pretty much anywhere outside the towns the handful of bases are located in. There was a big flood last year and the army and navy helped out, that was the first time in several years I'd seen anything NZ military related. The Army band looks more like the Salvation Army brass band and they play a lot of jazz music and dance. The navy band if it still exists looks like a bunch of people in office suits and the airforce got rid of their band years ago for financial reasons - apparently maintaing a few brass instruments was too expensive or maybe there weren't enough people who could play after reducing the size of the airforce too much. They're not strike capable anymore, they operate some transport planes and helicopters for the army and navy mostly. Having the ship leave like some generic container ship isn't surprising.
