interesting fact, he's not only expressing his feelings but like he said he is speaking through this instrument. Unlike any other musical instrument, Hmong musical instruments are used to speak word to word in a poetic way that could be understood by others what they are saying. It doesn't have a lyric, it makes the lyric if that make any sense and it doesn't have a melody.

Players of this flute speak through the flute with words. It will take months to listen to in order for you to know most of what they say. The Hmong people like to play this flute for dating especially at nighttime in rural villages. Also, this flute is usually played to say that “I have left my mom, my dad, my family and my girlfriend far, far away behind. I moved to this new village and birds are chirping, insects are making noises, and I don’t have anybody here in this new village that knows and loves me, it’s so sunny…and I am missing my mom, my dad, my family and my girlfriend who live so far away so, so very much..”

Its a chinese bamboo flute(Dzi), but modified a little bit by us hmong...the reed is made of copper!! hmong mostly uses to play folk and epithalamium songs

Its a hmong bamboo flute, made by hmong. Just because a katana is in china doesnt mean its made by a japanese, ofc they might have been the first to design it but that doesnt mean every swords you design afterward that looks similiar to a katana will always give all of its hardwork and credit to a japanese swordsmith who was the first one that design the katana, if you understand that lol.

I wouldn't compare it to the dizi flute because the dizi doesn't have the reed. The instrument it is the most similar to would be the bawu flute.
