I was in there for 3 months detention in 1972. The short sharp shock to deter people from crime. The favourite food was beetroot sandwiches and tea no sugar. A roll up was a MarsBar and so was a red match which a clever inmate could make 4 matches. What a waste of time and space!!!

Send detention center back in the 1980s was used for what was know as a "short sharp shock" sentence which were for a maximum of 4 months and consisted of physical exorcise and farm laboring.

Stuart you present your videos in an amazing way, I find them facinating and thoroughly enjoyable. The information you provide is accurate, which reflects you spending a considerable amount of time on research. Your exuberance, passionate and enthusiasm is contagious. You reveal much along your guided tours and journeys. Withholding tidbits, those tiny snippets of alluring information, (an interesting "secret" location) providing us with a tempting incentive, luring us into wanting more. An exciting va-va-voom to you.😄😄😄😄👍👍👍👍

Very informative and quiet outing to an out of the way Prison. Great narration on the history of the place, just a pity you didn't get your Prison Van shot, but a pass all round, with no interaction from any one. Keep up the great work.

Blast from the past i was in there in 1982 at 14yrs old The Short Sharp Shock as they called it didn't work, unfortunately. They later stopped the Detention center model as Prison Officers were abusing the kids with Violence this place was run on Violence from the moment i got through the gate....

I lived there in summer of 76, my dad was a prison officer there training at a young offenders detention centre back then. Lots of great memories of The Spinney a Close where we all knew each other, great times and such a beautiful green location! My dad later got posted to Hull Prison in 77 so new adventures ahead yet again.
