Once again, very helpful. I have slipped behind you, so I need to put in more time to catch up but I must stop myself from going too fast because that is when I make mistakes .

Hi John. My model of the Beagle has arrived and I look forward to watching your passionate and informative episodes. Although I have made smaller ships before, all tips and knowledge will always be helpful. Thanks.

Very nice, John. Bending the decorative wire for the transom was tricky for me being my first time. Your experience really shows here. Great work!

Great job John! I didn’t know that you could bend a large piece like the stern and make it fit so well. Enjoyed seeing you work on the metal pieces and how you bent them into shape.

You were not kidding about bending the strips around the stern being tricky. I think I broke about 4 planks before I managed it :)

I've heard you mention that when you choose or decline to build a specific model, the design and esthetics of the stern particularly contributes to the decision. Not knowing if this particular stern is more or less difficult to build than others you have built, it still looks very tricky to get a pleasing look. The phrase, "Be careful what you ask for" comes to mind. :) However, getting it right must be very satisfying. Looks good.

You are correct Mark. This is a beautiful model but the stern in not my type, but this model i ma building it for a friend, so it's not mine :) The stern is tricky in some points.

John, are you ok? The fires in greece are terrifying. Take care!

Thank you very much Peter for your concern :) I am fine although the atmosphere is "heavy" with all that smoke and ashes. I am living just 12 km (8 miles) away from the fire.

The stern looks very nice. I can tell you it is difficult to get the wires in straight lines and matching the left and right. Nothing is easy for a first time builder, but I manage to make it. planking the inside of the stern is not mentioned in the schematics I did it and it gives a good finishing result.
@JohnsWoodenShips
@JohnsWoodenShips 3 жыл бұрын
Yes i agree, it is very difficult to match the wires! The inside of the stern is painted black, but if you planked it it would be better as plain wood :)

Hi John, I am coming up to this part in my build and I have a question. Do you like the blue paint used in the officer's quarters? I'm not sure it is very realistic....yet I do not have a color in mind as an alternative. Did you like the blue paint on the windows?
@JohnsWoodenShips
@JohnsWoodenShips Жыл бұрын
Yes i did like it, makes the windows to be recognizable , you can use silver paint as well.
