@@jakubkana5205 Thank you :) I'm from Northern Germany and totally fascinated by Czech (especially Moravian) and Slovak culture. I've stumbled upon a Czech song 2 years ago and since then have been intrigued. I'm even studying the language, but it's very hard and it will be quite a while until I'll be able to really speak it ;D Also it's very hard to learn about Moravian culture. It's not that famous sadly and you have to know exactly what to look for in order to find music or dances or simply answers to all those questions I have. Still struggeling with that. Especially since often it's so hard to tell apart from Slovak music with all those Moravian dialects from which many are very similar to Slovak language I think and pretty different than standard Czech (at least my impression so far, of course depending on the region it's from)... Also I've asked under lots of songs and there were many discussions between Slovaks and Czechs whether a song is originally Czech or originally Slovak, since many exist in both cultures with few differences. It's very hard to get a real insight or an overview of all of that as a person from another country who's sadly never been to CR or SK and doesn't know anyone from there. :P But I'm trying my best. I just love this music and these dances. So precious.

It's just that we Czechs made it something a little different from what the dance originally was. Originally, he was tempted to go to war. Recruiters danced it in pubs and showed that it was fun in the army and thus recruited new soldiers... We recruits started dancing when going to the army and made up our own songs to it and connected it more with singing. I don't think our neighbors sing to him, and if they do, it's minimal. In addition, we made the dance more dynamic and we jump a lot during it, which neither Slovaks nor Hungarians do. Their verbuňk is more down-to-earth and compared to us, they play with their hands and clap with them more.

And I'm very happy, that the kind of verbuňk I know best and love watching most is seemingly indeed Czech and not Slovak. I get the feeling that Slovaks tend to say most songs and dances are "theirs", at least that's my experience so far, but I could be completely wrong!.. Thing is, I never know who to "trust", because Czechs so seldomly answer to my questions(or any questions of this kind), but Slovaks always do and in a very determined way (no critic! everyone should be proud of their culture I think, and I know there are a lot of Moravians that are the same way!). May I ask you, if the husárský verbuňk is Czech, too? Or from Hungary or Slovakia? Seems more like a Slovak dance to my unexperienced eyes, but I could be completely wrong. I love it and have seen many recordings of it, but only from a Czech ensemble... On the other hand I've heard it's originally Slovak, so again, I'm so confused🙈😝 I'm so sorry to bother you with questions like these, but you're the first Czech I've gotten in contact to explaining things.. Our cultures are very connected, so I am not very surprised that Slovaks claim that music or dances are theirs. In short, Moravia is the border between the Czech Republic and Slovakia. So the Moravians are basically half Slovaks. That's why we speak, sing and dance similarly 😊 Anyway, you mentioned the " husárský verbuňk" and I personally have no experience with him. If I understood it correctly, it is only danced in Podluží (which is a part of Moravia whose center is the town of Břeclav). In my opinion, the "husárský verbuňk" is more similar to the one danced in Slovakia, but according to what I have read, it is still ours. In any case, I feel obliged to tell you more about "slovácký verbuňk". It is danced all over Moravia and we all live more by it. It is included in the UNESCO list of oral and intangible heritage of humanity. We also have a competition here for its best dancer 😊 The "husársky verbuňk" is therefore more of an accessory, but we all dance the "slovácký verbuňk" here and for me personally it is a great hobby 😁 Each region of Moravia dances it a little differently and there is a certain variability.
