What a humble man. I miss the late Mr. Lee Kuan Yee. Many people have judged him for his dictatorship-style, but how many have stepped into his shoes to face the issues of the day with the limited resources, dangers, and tensions, etc. As a Singaporean, I can only say I'm grateful to be able to afford to buy a house, find work, go to school and still receive opportunities to study on a part-time basis, safe foods, high standards of governance. Holding the Singapore passport, I travel freely and find people have heard about our "little red dot" and the achievements we've attained for a very short time. These are attributed to Mr. Lee's sacrificial service to the country, we all call HOME.

Lee Kuan Yew is without doubt one of the greatest statesmen of the second half of the 20th century from any country. He didn't just transform a third-world backwater to one of the world's richest and most dynamic economies. Singapore's success was the model for China's economic reforms under Deng Xiaoping. It’s not about the British colonisation or China embrace. It’s more of the aspirations and clamour of Honkongers for more Open society, democracy, and for Business and Enterprise to thrive and progress. This may have been suppressed during British rule, but there was democratic space. I don’t think Hongkong would react if the same environment exists or is being threatened. Certainly Deng xiao Peng’s formula of One Country Two Systems is no longer there. I hope this ongoing problem will be resolved soon and fast. Thanks

@@pujadaflash1494 It is not that the democratic space does not exist. Now Hong Kong people have more democratic rights than during the British rule. The principle of one country was destroyed by ignorant mobs. Increased economic inequality has been used by conspirators to become a democracy issue. Very similar to the French yellow vest movement. The current Hong Kong media and Western media have adopted double standards in order to demonize Communist China. Police violence, which is clearly lower than Western society, is infinitely exaggerated. Freedom should hear different voices, but the current media is magnifying populism and color revolution.

Tashie, I think yours is a legitimate question. He built a country and lead it to prosperity despite the lack of natural ressources and the difficult challenge of a multi-racial society. These are the goals he achieved. Existence and survival. What about happiness ? That would be the next level to build up on that foundation. In my opinion, happiness is tied to a strong social culture and identity. It is the present challenge of Singapore, how to create and develop a stronger and attractive singaporean culture for Singaporeans. If i were part of the SG govt i would consult ancient culture historians and ask to research ideas on that theme. How a culture identity grows. In the case of a multi racial society, i think the government needs to force a fusion of cultures not by supressing each race's culture but by inventing new events , new customs and new traditions that everyone can participate in.

As long as Lee Kuan Yew’s lifetime legacy from his PMship, SMship and eventual MMship, carries on and on for Singapore’s present and future development, Singapore shall be sound and prosperous continuously. As we Singaporeans, we sincerely miss Mr LKY very much. Even last month March on the 23rd day, my family and I still recollect his death anniversary after 8 years in 2023.❤❤❤

I always admire the late PM Lee Kuan Yew and enjoy listening him speak which was like listening to my own grandfather. (PS: I am not a Singaporean). Mr. Lee passed away at the age of 91yo in 2015. Should he still be alive now, he would turn 98yo in a week time. It would be very interesting to listen to his assessment of the world today in particular about the USA, China and China's close neighbours. The situation in the world today is very much different than it was when he attended this interview. Oh how I wish he were still with us now.

Leader has great visions. Late Mr LKY and his team of leaders transformed Singapore from a third world to first world country.

This is an era of globalization. You dont need to live in HK . You could get lot of information across the network.

Lee's comment to former head of Hong Kong government, Tong Jian Hua, fits today's Carrie Lam. Hong Kong has not had a real strong politician (street fighter) as the head of government. Most of them either are government administrators or businessman.

Under british rule, nobody talk about politics. After that, all suddenly so involve in it. Can't understand.
