Hanoi is great for its Old Quarters and myriad of food option and is the gateway to the more popular destinations like Sapa, Ha Long Bay, Ha Giang etc. Ho Chi Minh city I prefer for the myraid of districts option and food option too. Do check out the Landmark 81 precinct for less frenetic pace of life ..and more modern amenities too. Personally, I feel Saigoneses to be more friendly. Have a good trip , mate.

Awesome, good summary about Hanoi, I agree. Enjoyed the Old Quarters and being a gateway. I'm neutral enjoyed both.
