Uncle blessed me many times. Once by singing with me in the sun on his porch at Kakakuloa in 1999 and another when I sang hymns with the family in the little white church there. He was a loving man and I learned lessons of akahai and ha‘ha`a from uncle and auntie. I will grateful til I'm gone for them and those wonderful opportunities.

I love this mele but never heard it by the Ho`opi`i Bros. I am so fascinated by the story of Pa`ahana, so much so that I started looking formore info on what happened to her after the paniolo found her. Stories are that he married her. Well after great searching I found her great grandson who now lives in California. He said the things that the story said are true and that she ran away because of bad mistreatment on the part of her stepmother. It was so bad she relied on her wits in the wild.
