Thanks man. This wasn't actually a convention, it's just a large train club that has a building in the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Been going there for the passed 4 years to help out and film during the State Fair Show. But there are big shows and conventions regularly for model railroaders all over the country. Your hometown of Chicago is the largest and busiest railhub in the country, so there's lots of railfans up there. I would imagine shows are pretty common there. If you want to see them, I'd say do an internet search for train shows in your area.
